Mini Geaux Cups: A Nomadic Invocation

These mini geaux cups are my ode to the nomadic spirit — vessels for memory, offering, and reverence. The 兰萨(LanSa) motif, an ancient symbol of longevity, appears to me as a priestly figure: a conduit between sky, earth, and human breath.

I used layered slips to echo the textured surfaces of ancient wall paintings, mimicking the weathered whispers of time.

Inspired by nomadic rituals, these forms offer a quiet tribute to traditions where vodka is not merely consumed, but offered — to the ancestors, to the heavens, to the unseen forces that shape our days. In this series, I pour intention into form, reflecting not only on reverence but also on the tension between sacred offering and habitual escape.

These cups are my way of holding that contradiction. A fantasy of the nomadic dream. A clay-bodied prayer. A reminder that even in the smallest rituals, we are choosing what we honor.

The double facet design is inspired by the combination of a clients spiritual practice. The blue endless knot is the symbol of longevity in Mongolian culture and also is twisted like a gourd shape, which represents merit and luck in Chinese culture. The other side of this pyramid is inspired by Peruvian shamanism’s world view of three worlds: Upper, Middle, and Below.
