Kuhl Grill/Smoker/Fire Pit All in One
Gather around the versatile three-in-one Kuhl Grill/Smoker/Fire Pit, designed and built by Louisville born and Speed Scientific School-trained Ron Kuhl. The Kuhl Grill evolved over time to fulfill Ron’s personal vision for a backyard entertainment and cooking hub. “I started designing the Kuhl Smoker when I wanted a fire pit that wouldn’t rust out
in a year,” Ron says. The more he thought about it, the more he tinkered with the design to enhance its features and improve its functionality. “I kept adding to the fire pit by adding walls, a hood and a smoke stack. After that I thought it would be cool to add doors and a grill in a way that it could be converted from a smoker to a fire pit. After that I designed the grill to be removed from the front door and put a plate in its place to accommodate a pot to cook chili, beans or any other soups.”
After many improvements he had the prototype for a versatile, space-saving grill that can take the place of three different (and often cumbersome) pieces of outdoor Equipment – and he recently patented his unique design. The grill is made of heavy 1/8 inch thick hot rolled steel and will last for many years. “The first one I made was ten years ago and it is as solid as the day I built it,” he says. Ron’s favorite dishes to cook on the grill are ribs, chicken and corn, and he enjoys cooking chili in the pot, changing his recipe a little each time. Yet with the grill/smoker/cooker, the menu options are endless, from smoked turkey to charbroiled burgers, brats, and steaks. The grill even includes an accessory for upright rotisserie cooking. Once dinner is ready, then the fun begins - gathering with friends and family members around the cozy fire pit. “I have had a lot of family and friends over for cookouts,” he says. “The food always tastes great and everyone sits around the fire pit the rest of the evening having a good time.”
