Hey, I’m Gregory!
I see some new faces around here. Welcome! Please allow me to introduce myself.
I am the baker, photographer and content creator for Craving The Yum! (Instagram of the same name)
Why I didn’t become a therapist, and instead bake brownies.
Ok, I am not a real therapist. However, I do have two degrees in psychology and was on my toward becoming a psycho-therapist – then destiny called.
After I was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and completed a very difficult chemo regimen, I decided to set my intentions on finishing school. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 2021 and was on my way to grad school! YAY! I knew exactly where I wanted to go and the recommendation letters were literally being typed up by former professors. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks! Psychotherapy was not what I want to do. And believe me. I come from a long history of “this isn’t what I want to do” patterns. See, a natural therapist! This felt different. I was doing it for all the wrong reasons.
After the pandemic hit, then cancer again, a proverbial crack in the surface opened up, and out bellowed this voice “Don’t become a therapist! Do YOU!” I know, drama much? Well, I am an actor too.
However, I digress.
After a year and a half of developing and testing recipe after recipe for the perfect fudgy brownie, I just went for it. The idea of offering something so mouthwatering felt like slipping on my favorite pair of jeans. It just felt comfy and cozy, with an elastic waistband (gotta love those). As if all the stars in the sky perfectly aligned, creating a fudgy constellation of brownies. HA! Too much?
Brownie Therapy brownies not only provides the perfect cure for the stubbornest of sweet tooths, BTNYC also has a mission to encourage fun, compassion, and positivity.
Thank you for reading my story and I look forward to serving you the best brownies in town!
Love,
Gregory
