PERSEUS GALLERY hosted the opening of the new exhibition BLACK&WHITE&COLOR on February, 29. 22 artists from around the world are showcased on the gallery’s two floors, presenting diverse countries, styles, and techniques. Art for every taste— all paintings are prepared and available for purchase.
The opening attracted a vast number of invited collectors, interior designers, art enthusiasts, and the artists themselves presenting their works. The atmosphere was filled with joy and harmony, complemented by a stunning fashion show featuring evening dresses by the renowned New York designer Alex Teih. Cold Prosecco and delicious snacks were accompanied by exquisite chocolate from Brooklyn’s Misha. Together, they left an unforgettable impression of the new collection of paintings and photographs at Perseus Gallery. The cherry on top was the sale of three large paintings “straight from the walls.” Stay tuned; the next powerful opening is scheduled for the end of March.

OLEG NEISHTADT at PERSEUS GALLERY.

I was born in 1960s to two dissident-artists in the capital of socialism triumphant – Moscow, USSR. They taught me to draw and to look at life with honesty and a sense of humor. Doing both in the Soviet Union at the time was a dangerous thing. We emigrated to the USA.

I grew up in the capital of capital – New York, USA in 1970-80s, with Italians, hispanics, blacks and everyone else that inhabited the rotting and splendid, sinister and shining capital of the world of that time. From immigrant poor to living the American Dream was my New York. I became a married yuppie doing graphic design for various clients with partial success: monetary satisfaction – great, spiritual satisfaction – none. When I woke up from that Dream, I understood that I couldn’t escape my destiny – I had to paint.

Knowing that Art usually rhymes with Poor I went where everyone had always gone to do both. In Paris, France, I lost my money and… my wife, 10 kilos and a lot of fear. But bohemian Paris also meant: hundreds of works of art; dozens of exhibitions; a new language and even running an art association and its art gallery in the Latin Quarter.

Then I left bohemian Paris to look for my self in Moscow. Instead I found: 1 wife; 4 children; 1 more language; and different cities, New York > Paris > Rome > Paris > Miami Beach > Moscow > Berlin > Rome > Mombasa…; the need to paint again – painted; the need to write – wrote.

In 2020, I came back to New York just in time for Corona-Covid-Lockdown. Which made me reflect on life and work on songs and other musical projects with various musical partners, while continuing to paint and write.
To be continued…

My paintings can be found in private collections in:
Europe, Africa, USA, Mexico, Russia, Tahiti, and others.

And in major collections such as:
• Carsten Maschmeyer, Investment banker and owner of Maschmeyer Group Munich, Germany • Pierre Herbert, Vice President, Societé Generale, Paris, France • Boca Raton Museum of Art, Florida, USA • Art Director’s Club, New York, USA • Chesebrough-Pond’s Inc. New York, USA • Board of Education, New York, USA, and others.

MATTHEW STOCK IN PERSEUS GALLERY, NY.
Drawing inspiration from the greats, Matthew pays homage to the likes of Wassily Kandinsky, Roy Lichtenstein, and Marc Chagall, whose influences have shaped his creative path. But it doesn’t end there; comic book legends Jack Kirby and John Romita Sr. have also played a significant role in fueling his artistic fire.
Matthew’s journey into the art world began in the heart of the East Village, where he resided during the late 1980s while attending The Cooper Union. There, he delved into the realms of engineering and art, forging a unique blend of technical precision and creative expression that defines his art today.
Diving into the world Matthew creates is a visual delight. His compositions are a captivating dance of bold colors and mesmerizing designs, pulling the viewer into an otherworldly experience. With each stroke of acrylic paint applied over weeks of meticulous dedication, his artwork evolves, revealing depth in texture and a tapestry of intricate shapes and patterns.
But above all, Matthew’s vision is simple yet profound - to create art that is truly beautiful. His creative journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. So, whether you’re a seasoned art enthusiast or a curious passerby, Matthew Stock’s art is an invitation to immerse yourself in a world where beauty knows no bounds and where the human form becomes a canvas of mesmerizing colors and shapes.

Oleg Khvostov at Perseus Gallery, NYC.
Oleg Khvostov (1972) is a Russian painter, representative of naïve art. Since 2001 he’s a member of the Russian Union of Artists and the Free Culture society since 2004. Currently lives and works in Saint Petersburg.

Let me take this opportunity to say, that I still consider him one of the most interesting artists of Saint Petersburg and it’s sad that we couldn’t work it out back in the day
— Marat Guelman

All the researchers of Khvostov’s works emphasize the role of self-education in the development of his own artistic style. Dmitry Pilikin, an artist, curator, vice director of SPbSU Diaghilev Museum of modern art, and Andrei Kovalev, art critic, fine arts expert and lecturer at the Faculty of Arts of the Moscow State University, agree that the lack of artistic education saved Khvostov’s works from the formal attributes of genre and need to follow the canons of art.
Portraits and self-portraits and lavender landscapes, borrowed from impressionists and postimpressionists, hold a special place among cross-cutting themes of Khvostov’s art works.
