Dear Friends,
No long goodbyes. Just a so long and farewell. For now.
More than twenty years ago I opened the doors to Matter with no real roadmap, certainly no experience, but an instinct that there was room for a different kind of retail experience-one that championed thoughtful design, celebrated craftsmanship, and introduced people to work they may never have discovered otherwise. And somehow that simple idea grew into something far bigger than the diminutive shop I opened on 5th Avenue in Brooklyn so many years ago.
What a great privilege it’s been to work alongside so many extraordinary designers, artists, makers, manufacturers, clients, team members and friends. We’ve completed innumerable projects, launched collections, mounted exhibitions and helped shape conversations around contemporary design and craft. I will be forever grateful to everyone who believed in Matter, trusted my instincts, and came along for the ride.
As for me, this isn’t the end, it’s just time to explore something else, something new. I’m looking forward to whatever comes next and will share more with you in the coming months.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your trust, your friendship, your collaboration, and for making these past twenty-three years truly unforgettable.
