🍯 Sweet & Spicy Glazed Tofu with Garlic Rice! 🍚✨
If you think tofu is bland, think again! This crispy, caramelized tofu is coated in a sticky, sweet, and spicy glaze, then served over fragrant garlic rice with a side of crisp green beans. It’s the perfect balance of heat, sweetness, and umami—plus, it's super easy to make!
🛒 Ingredients
For the Tofu:
🍢 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, drained and cubed
🛢️ 2 tbsp olive oil
🌿 1 tbsp cornstarch (for crispiness)
🧂 1/2 tsp salt
Sweet & Spicy Glaze:
🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced
🌶️ 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
🍯 2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
🥢 2 tbsp soy sauce
🍋 1 tsp rice vinegar
🫒 1 tsp sesame oil
🌿 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
🥄 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
Garlic Rice:
🍚 1 cup jasmine rice
🧄 2 cloves garlic, minced
💧 2 cups water
🧂 1/2 tsp salt
Side & Garnish:
🌿 1 cup green beans, steamed
⚪ 1 tsp sesame seeds
🌱 2 tbsp fresh cilantro or green onions, chopped
👨🍳 Directions
Step 1: Prep the Tofu
1️⃣ Press tofu by wrapping it in a clean towel and placing something heavy on top (15 minutes). This removes excess moisture for better crisping!
2️⃣ Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes and toss with cornstarch and salt.
Step 2: Cook the Tofu
3️⃣ Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add tofu cubes and pan-fry until golden brown on all sides (about 10 minutes). Remove from pan and set aside.
Step 3: Make the Glaze
4️⃣ In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
5️⃣ Add soy sauce, sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well.
6️⃣ Mix cornstarch with water and pour into the sauce. Stir until thickened (about 1 minute).
Step 4: Coat the Tofu
7️⃣ Toss crispy tofu back into the pan and stir to coat evenly in the glaze.
Step 5: Cook the Garlic Rice
8️⃣ Rinse jasmine rice under water until it runs clear.
9️⃣ In a pot, sauté garlic for 30 seconds. Add rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
Step 6: Assemble & Serve
🔹 Plate the garlic rice, add glazed tofu, and serve with steamed green beans.
🔹 Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro or green onions. Enjoy!

🔥 Want extra heat? Add chili flakes or extra sriracha!
