Both of our kids came home to this nursery in our Brooklyn Loft. We did not chose to find out the s*x of our babies, so I designed this gender neutral space that was happy and calm, and worked for both girl & boy. Feels like yesterday.

Remember! Only You can Prevent Forest Fires!! I did a kitchen remodel for my parents about 15 years ago, but this tile has remained timeless. The all over tile backsplash is still the first thing people comment on when they walk in this kitchen. I grew up with the Smokey cookie jar on the counter, and only recently rediscovered it deep in their garage. .

The year was 2006. I was sitting with two girlfriends at the Gore Range Brewery bar in Edwards, Colorado. It was dinner time, after a yoga class....because, who doesn't go to a brewery immediately after yoga??

The bar was packed. I felt a nudge on my left arm, "Excuse me" he said, "would you pass the dessert menu?". "Sure! I replied. "I'd recommend the chocolate chip cookie sundae, and If you get it, please get an extra spoon".

We were married not long after that, and when it came time to start my business, he suggested the name.

And that's why......extraspoon.

It was on this day 4 years ago that we took the leap and left our little corner of Brooklyn. I have such fond memories of our life in NYC. I loved the exposed brick we lived with, and stuck close to the color palette within that wall when designing this space. I always try to stay true to the space and location, enhancing what's already there. From the Brooklyn Bridge, to the Willamette River, I design.
