MKDA took first place 🏅 at last night’s In Bloom event by , an incredible honor among such a talented group, with judging by , Jon Otis, and Ghislaine Viñas.

Our winning concept, in the words of MKDA Executive Creative Director :

🌺

Color, or Not. The Eternal Dilemma.

On one side: restraint. A quiet, shadowed ecosystem where texture does the talking and time feels slower. It’s edited, disciplined, and a little mysterious - proof that less can still say a lot.

On the other: an explosion. Color refuses to behave. It climbs, blooms, and interrupts. It’s playful, slightly chaotic, and fully alive, because sometimes more is exactly the point. Same vessel. Same rules. Two completely different attitudes.

This is MKDA in a nutshell. We don’t pick a side. We design the tension between them. Because great spaces, like great stories, live in contrast: control vs. freedom, calm vs. energy, black tie vs. barefoot.

So… color, or not? We’ll take both!

🌺

This Earth Day, we’re thinking beyond materials and focusing on mindset. 🌍

“Sustainable design should start at the planning level. If we can build spaces that are more adaptable and conducive to future modifications, we can reduce unnecessary construction. Some of our clients, including landlords, have been asking for this for a while, and an increasing number of manufacturers are showing how their products can help reduce carbon footprints in meaningful ways, not just through greenwashing.” Jung Kim, NCIDQ, LEED AP, WELL AP, Studio Director

Designing for flexibility today means less waste tomorrow.

Elevating the coworking experience on the Upper West Side 🎭

MKDA partnered with to create a 22,501 SF destination at 1900 Broadway, inspired by the artistic energy of the neighborhood and the iconic performance venues of Lincoln Center.

Drawing from the layered drama of theater, the space unfolds as a sequence of experiences—transitioning from vibrant, communal lounges to quieter zones for focused work. Reception, shared lounges, a café, and flexible work areas welcome freelancers and solo professionals, while private offices and team suites deeper within the plan offer turnkey solutions for growing teams seeking privacy and focus.

Rich textures, layered materials, and dramatic lighting create a warm, hospitality-driven atmosphere, while thoughtful material transitions and architectural framing guide movement throughout the space.

The result is a timeless, elegant, and highly adaptable coworking environment—bringing the spirit of the Upper West Side to life through design.

MKDA is proud to share the transformation of new headquarters and showroom—an inspired adaptive reuse of the former Stamford Post Office that brings new life to a historic landmark.

Blending the building’s Neo-Renaissance architecture and Art Deco influences with a modern, home-inspired workplace, the design preserves original elements like arched windows, exposed brick, and soaring double-height ceilings.

Anchored by a central stadium seating installation, the space fosters connection and flexibility through open lounges, garage-door conference rooms, and cozy nooks furnished with Lovesac products—creating a true “home at work” experience. Brand storytelling is woven throughout, celebrating Lovesac’s 25-year journey, while wellness-driven amenities, a materials library, and a dedicated podcast studio support both creativity and collaboration.

Sustainable strategies, including extensive furniture reuse, further reinforce a workplace that is as responsible as it is dynamic—honoring the past while shaping the future of work.

A showroom designed to adapt, evolve, and inspire.

MKDA brings AIS’s New York presence to life with a 12,600 SF, gallery-inspired space set within an industrial loft. The open plan seamlessly transitions between offices, conference rooms, lounges, and workstations—creating a flexible environment for real-world use.

Carpeted zones over exposed concrete define distinct vignettes, while a neutral palette and exhibition-style lighting keep the focus on the furnishings. Curated moments—from a bold reception to an interactive materials library—invite exploration and engagement.

More than a showroom, it’s a versatile platform reflecting AIS’s commitment to adaptable workplace solutions.
