Park Avenue ELEGANCE.

A change of color and detail can shift the mood of a space. Here, new paint color, lighting fixtures and updated furnishings make all the difference in giving this stunning 2-bedroom apartment a fresh look.

• Pure White from Benjamin Moore helps create a sense of serenity.
• New lighting fixtures, both a grand chandelier and graceful sconces, add newness.
• Soft neutrals and white accents in furniture and artwork modernize the space.

With some of the owner’s traditional and antique furniture left behind, MCD enhanced the overall look with a curved-line modern sofa in soft silvery velvet, a striking glass top coffee table and white Italian urn-back dining chairs. The rich texture of the white wool living room rug brought tactile interest.

And finally, original modern artwork, quietly bold and memorable, completes the transformation.

Imagine hosting Thanksgiving in this dramatic duplex penthouse perched high above the Hudson River. These photos highlight the property’s sleek modern lines, superb finishes and unique architectural detail.

A 12-year rental had left the duplex in desperate need of tender loving care. The list of repairs was long. The floors needed attentions. Countertops were cracked and scarred. Walls were in poor condition. Bathrooms were a mess. And that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Enter the MCD team, along with one of our chosen top-shelf contractors, NYC Design & Reno.

Our revitalization of this spectacular apartment left no surface untouched.

-- Worn walnut floors were sanded down to reveal a luscious natural walnut glow.
-- Stained and dried-out wood window frames were painted white, revitalizing the windows and integrating them into the overall architectural detail. The resulting simplified look creates a calm flow from wall to glass.
-- Unique architectural details such as the suspended glass staircase and sky-lit primary bedroom were rejuvenated.
-- Blemished and cracked cement kitchen countertops were demolished and replaced with white quartz for a fresher, cleaner look.
-- The furniture plan was kept simple and the palette neutral – keeping the focus on the property’s stunning features and spectacular vistas.

Take in the result of this transformation -- a spectacular double-height living room with soaring ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace and breathtaking panoramas. Happy Thanksgiving from MCD!

Quiet Elegance … is that how you would describe this 4-bedroom Park Avenue apartment?

The background on this 3,800 sq ft Upper East Side apartment may surprise you.

This property languished for months on the market: without furnishing, it showed as an barren rambling space that failed to capture the eye of a buyer seeking a family home. Potential buyers saw a desolate space that didn’t resonate with possibilities. It just didn’t show as a family home.

In came the MCD team … and proof that staging can make the difference. A transformation that enabled the brokers to re-market the property as the perfect family home. And yes, this apartment now shines with elegance and warmth.

Note the curved lines, colorful highlights and sculptural detail used in the living room. The unique sofa with its rounded arm and dipped-back accentuates the modern feel. Black lacquer 1980s’ vintage 3-legged chairs amplify the bold statement. The library became a gentleman’s office. A bonus room, which we showed as a homework room, together with the library, were big selling points in this Covid age. Our homes have taken on so much practical function for adults and kids – these ‘work’ rooms are highly valued.

Graphic detail of the sculptural lighting and bold artwork completes the visual statement of a contemporary apartment that buyers want!

Thank you Jean and Isabel Segal Jean Segal, LREB, for their comment about the result: “The size and placement of the furniture helped show the scale of the space, and made the space make sense. Every time we bring you in, we sell in 2 weeks.”
