It's been a busy month! Here's a roundup of our September interior design tips:

Your nursery should not be done in boring neutrals. Give it some life with color. Not only is a colorful nursery interesting, it helps your baby's development, too.

Color drenched home? Then dial down the throw pillow patterns and color. Instead, opt for solid pillows with texture for interest.

Toile is so 2016! We say go sage green instead.

Grandmacore is not dead. But if you're going to do it, do it right. Mix your patterns. Think both patterned sheets and duvet, for example.

The quickest way to make your house look cheap? Skinny curtain rods. Never do anything less than 1' in diameter.

How many lamps should you have in a living room? Follow the seating. Various light sources for the varied ways you use the room.

Never buy a sofa at HomeGoods. We love HG but for an item that should last you 10 years HG isn't going to cut it.

There's an interior design philosophy behind adding a touch of lipstick red to every room. We do not agree with this thinking.

We're not saying it can't work ever (we recently did a client's bathroom using ruby red patterned wallpaper and it gorg!) but it's not right for every room or every client.
