π§ Mozzarella-Stuffed Parmesan Pretzels Recipe
π Ingredients
For the Pretzel Dough:
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tbsp sugar
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
For Stuffing:
8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into cubes (about 8 cubes)
For Boiling and Topping:
8 cups water
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tbsp butter, melted
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
π₯£ Directions
Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Pretzels: Preheat your oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long rope, about 12 inches long. Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and pinch the dough around it, sealing it completely.
Boil the Pretzels: In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a boil. Add baking soda. Carefully drop each stuffed dough ball into the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake: Brush each pretzel with melted butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve: Sprinkle with coarse sea salt and serve warm.
