Why weight changes how expensive something feels.
Our brains read weight as a signal. Heavy materials can feel more permanent, substantial, and luxurious, while extreme lightness can signal precision, engineering, and performance. From restaurant cutlery to interiors and product design, luxury is often something you feel before you consciously see it.

Can we talk about how wrong the color wheel is?

Everyone thinks complementary means high contrast or matchy and it’s just not true.
Cobalt blue and to***co brown work because they’re both deep, not because they’re « opposite » on some chart.
Lavender and lemon yellow only work because that yellow is soft, if it was a primary yellow it’d be a mess.
Rosewood and terracotta don’t even have contrast and it still works, tonal harmony is underrated.
Burnt orange and black is the only pair here that’s actually dramatic.
Antique rose and olive green work because they’re both muted, if either one was more saturated it’d fall apart.
And cornflower blue and lime green, I know, I know. It’s the one everyone’s scared of but it works.
Forget the whee, trust the undertone.

Which one would you actually use in your space?

Why the brain responds differently to symmetry and asymmetry.
Symmetry is easier for us to process, which is why it often feels calm, balanced, and complete. Asymmetry makes the eye work a little harder, creating movement, tension, and interest. From Versailles to Rococo furniture, designers have used both for centuries to shape how a space feels.

Most of my clients pause when I offer to color block their home. I always tell them that if they don’t like it we’ll go back to white. No questions ask.

Once it’s painted with color, 9 out of 10 of them never look back.

Wood floors bring warmth to a house. Tile flooring is for supermarkets and hospitals.

Only pro of tile or marble floors: easier to clean. But you can see every piece of dust, it’s slippery and cold.

Wood on the other hand reconnects us to nature, brings warmth (physically and emotionally) and grounds us.

Green is a way to reconnect to nature, since it’s the color of trees and plants. It’s a potent way to bring back natural elements in a home that is in a big city or where nature is missing.

Why a home can be beautiful and still feel like it has no soul.

The spaces we remember most are rarely just perfectly styled. They carry evidence of the people who live there through collected objects, worn materials, books, art, memories and details that could not belong to anyone else.

Where to use pink in your home, and no, it doesn’t have to feel too sweet.

A dusty pink in a bedroom feels soft and calm. A deeper rose in a living room adds warmth without overwhelming the space. Even a hint of pink in a kitchen or bathroom can feel unexpected in the best way. It’s all about the shade and how much you use.

Which room would you try pink in first?

Here’s how I get a room to actually feel like something.

I start with the mood you want to feel first, then work backward. Color goes down before furniture. Art gets chosen for what it does to the room, not just how it looks on the wall. Every piece has to earn its spot.

Calm, warm, joyful. It’s not luck, it’s a process.

Have you ever wondered why hotel rooms feel so restful?

It isn’t just the mattress. The way a bedroom is designed has a powerful effect on how your brain processes the space and ultimately, how well you sleep.

In this video, I explain the psychology behind hotel design and how you can apply the same principles to your own bedroom.

What part of your bedroom helps you relax or keeps your mind switched on? Let me know in the comments.
