🍪 Brown Sugar Cut-Out Cookies 🎉
These Brown Sugar Cut-Out Cookies are a delicious twist on traditional sugar cookies. They’re perfect for any occasion and can be decorated with icing or enjoyed plain!
Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 🌾
1 teaspoon baking powder 🥄
1/2 teaspoon baking soda 🥄
1/2 teaspoon salt 🧂
1 cup unsalted butter (softened) 🧈
1 cup brown sugar (packed) 🍂
1 large egg 🥚
1 teaspoon vanilla extract 🌼
1 teaspoon almond extract (optional) 🌰
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) until well combined.
Combine Mixtures:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. The dough will be soft.
Chill the Dough:
Divide the dough in half, wrap each half in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for easier handling).
Roll and Cut:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out one half of the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
Bake:
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorate (optional):
Decorate with icing, sprinkles, or enjoy plain!
