Ultimate Cheesy Sausage Pasta Recipe 🍝
Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) Italian sausage (mild or spicy, your choice)
12 oz (340g) penne or rotini pasta
2 tbsp olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup chicken broth
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp dried oregano
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
Cook the sausage:
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage and set aside.
Sauté the veggies:
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant, about 2 minutes.
Prepare the pasta:
Add the pasta to the skillet, stirring to combine with the onion and garlic. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Combine and cheese:
Once the pasta is cooked, return the sausage to the skillet. Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
