This slow-cooked onion gravy beef is the definition of comfort food. 🤎
Tender, juicy beef melts into a rich onion gravy that’s perfect over mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
• 3 lb beef chuck roast
• 1 large yellow onion, diced
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 packet (1 oz) onion soup mix
• 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
• 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 2 tbsp cornstarch
• 2 tbsp cold water
Instructions
Cut the chuck roast into 5 thick portions and gently tenderize each piece with a meat mallet until about 1½ inches thick.
Season with onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet and sear each piece for 2–3 minutes per side until deeply browned.
Scatter the diced onion and garlic into the slow cooker, then place the beef on top.
Whisk together the beef broth, onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce, then pour over the beef.
Cover and cook on LOW for 8–9 hours until the beef is fall-apart tender.
Mix the cornstarch with the cold water, stir it into the gravy, and cook on HIGH for 15–20 minutes until the gravy thickens.
Serve with creamy mashed potatoes for the ultimate cozy family dinner. ❤️
