Two days ago a new client contacted me and asked for help with her kitchen reno - she said she was replacing all of her cabinetry but was going with honey oak again because they wore so well! It seems that many times a year new terms are coined to describe a decorating trend. Right now it seems to be "dirty pastel." Newsflash- there's no such thing. A pastel by definition is muted by white, making it pale and therefore pastel. The colors shown in these articles aren't even light enough to be deemed pastel. Dirty colors are muted with blacks, grays and browns. These declarations drive me crazy!

Dirty pastel colors are seemingly everywhere, in the luxury homes of skin care gurus, designers and even Prada’s runway show.
