Potato Cheese Sticks
Ingredients:
2 cups mashed potatoes (smooth, no lumps)
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or green onions (optional)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or more as needed for shaping)
Oil, for frying
Optional Dipping Sauce Ideas:
Marinara sauce
Ranch dressing
Spicy mayo
Directions:
Make the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and herbs if using. Mix until everything is well blended.
Add flour gradually until the mixture becomes thick enough to shape (soft but not sticky).
Shape the Sticks:
Take small portions of the mixture and roll into stick or log shapes about 3–4 inches long. Place on a plate and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up.
Heat the Oil:
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. You want enough oil to shallow-fry the sticks, about 1/2 inch deep.
Fry Until Golden:
Fry the potato sticks in batches, turning gently until all sides are golden brown and crispy—about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve Hot:
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce!
