VISION POWERED BY TRUST

Unless the architecture itself is the art, I find it hard to leave a wall completely silent. There is certainly beauty in “white space” and giving the eye a place to rest, but art and color are what give a room its soul.

In this retail commercial project, we gave this private office just the adornment it deserves. I love the idea that your art doesn’t have to “match” the room; there’s a specific kind of magic in that friction. It adds a layer of interest that ensures a space can never be duplicated. During the design development phase, my client asked, “You sure are using a lot of disparate color? But I have full trust in your vision.”

These are the best kind of clients. Trust the professional and trust the vision.

As an interior designer, your “hand” isn’t a fixed point; it’s a living thing that evolves with every new experience and every unique project type.

HONORING YOUR HISTORY is where our design magic begins.

We’re not just styling a room; we’re curating a lifetime of stories. We are currently obsessed with our client’s time-honored collection of mouth-blown vintage glass.

Our favorite part of the process? Weaving these earthy, spice-hued treasures into a modern layout that feels both fresh and deeply personal. It’s about more than “decor”, it’s about making sure your most loved pieces finally have the stage they deserve.

Trailblazers like The Honorable Sharon Pratt deserve their flowers every single day.

Years ago, when my close friend shared that her mother .pratt.777 was running for Mayor of Washington, D.C., I was in awe. I had never personally known a woman aspiring to such a powerful leadership role. When she won, she didn’t just lead our nation’s capital, she made history as the first Black woman to serve as mayor of a major American city.

Sharon’s legacy is defined by being a barrier-breaking “first. From serving as the first woman and first Black woman Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to her current leadership at Pratt Consulting and the Institute of Politics, Policy, and History at UDC, she remains a fierce advocate for Black-owned and women-owned businesses.

I feel incredibly blessed to call her my friend, Soror, champion, and client. My design studio has had the honor of creating well-appointed spaces for her, but the most meaningful project has been the design renovation of her home including transforming a long hallway into an “Ancestral Family Legacy” gallery. We curated decades of family history and major milestones that had been stored in crates for years. It was an emotional reveal. Aimee even shared that she gets choked up walking down that corridor now.

Speaking of Aimee (an award-winning director, academic, my Soror, and fellow alum), you must follow her work! Subscribe to her Substack, BORN INTO POLITICS . Growing up with both parents entrenched in influential politics is a unique journey, and she is working on something truly intriguing. Watch this space! ✍🏾🎬

It’s all in the details—those final, thoughtful layers are the well-heeled accessories that truly make a house a home.

For this Manhattan Classic Six kitchen renovation, we treated the finishing touches like heirloom jewelry. We opted for timeless lighting from , bringing an immediate sense of presence and history to the space. To punctuate that enduring elegance, we selected sleek pulls and modern classic k***s with sophisticated coin-edge detailing. In unlacquered polished brass, these pieces are destined to become even more beautiful as they develop a soft, natural patina over time.

It has been such a joy to watch this custom kitchen take center stage. Clad in a cheerful, storied blue, it plays perfectly against walls with just a hint of lavender undertones.

With the major renovation now complete, we’re moving through the final punch list items. I’m especially looking forward to the art installation and pulling the rest of the home together. After all, if you’re fortunate enough to own a Classic Six in the city, you simply have to be ready to entertain!

As much as I love seeing the progress, I truly can’t wait to have this project editorially styled and professionally captured. There is a certain level of artistry that comes with a professional lens. It translates the soul of the space and those tactile details, like the soft patina of the brass, into a visual narrative. It’s the final step in honoring the craftsmanship that went into this Classic Six.
