Your frame could be damaging your artwork.

If your art has been sitting in the same frame for decades—or you inherited it, bought it at auction, or purchased it from a gallery—it’s worth looking inside.

Old mats, acidic materials, poor-quality adhesives, and outdated framing methods can damage artwork over time.

Brown, acidic matting can cause discoloration. Adhesives can leave stains and residue. And materials that were considered acceptable years ago may not meet today’s standards for protecting art.

The damage isn’t always visible at first.

Before you rehang that family heirloom, auction find, or longtime favorite, have the framing checked.

At GK Framing, we believe framing should do more than make artwork look beautiful.

It should protect it for the next generation.

GK Framing — a Gothic-inspired frame created for a Renaissance etching.

The dramatic pointed arch, deep carved wood, and architectural detailing were designed to echo the intricate Gothic and Renaissance elements within the artwork itself.

The result feels almost architectural—a frame that doesn’t simply surround the etching, but becomes part of the composition.

Custom framing at its most expressive. Designer for GK Framing
