love the way this yoke came out - initially i hated the garter stitch rows and tried to alter the design completely to make sure everything lays flat, but then i kind of just let it happen. we'll see what happens in the wash 🫧

i usually never let myself do this but i got yarn without knowing how i would use it, and i'm very glad i did. if you saw this Neptune colorway by Kalila Jones🐥🧶 in person you would understand 🌀

periwinkle is so hard to get right, but you know it when you see it. couldn't even wait to cake them up for a pic - hopefully the green bg does it justice!

also, support modest transitions while you can as their last day of business is 4/18! every purchase matters for a local shop, so if you have any malabrigo Rios you've been eyeing i left a big ol pile there for ya. you are so welcome in advance

lace is one of our oldest, most technical, underpaid, overlooked arts - eventually leading to many technologies we take for granted today ➿

first pic are three lace scrunchies, completed over the past three days. the pattern has taken me months to get right but is finally complete. bonus: it has a clear silicone band on the inside, so it won't ever stretch or have the black band of a hairtie peeking between the stitches (good for darker colors, just not for pastels) 🌸

second are samples from the 17th century!!! on view at Hispanic Society that i believe are needle lace. these were made to adorn luxury garments or liturgical clothing - it is indescribably fine and unordinarily complex, taking months to complete inches, something our modern world doesn't seem to have space for.

yet here i am, over 370 or so years later, working different stitches in pursuit of a similar effect. somewhat for me, and somewhat in hopes that someone else can do the same 💫

white, lilac, or mint? (or a secret fourth thing)
