Initially painted in bright primary colours, a previous monocromist owner went full grey scale... this powerful hand pulled truck and trailer combo was designed to climb alpine passes delivering swiss dairy products, milk chocolates and chronometer components to its select clientele. Dating back to the mid 1960s and made by Wisa Gloria AG I can only imagine the immense pleasure derived from playing and manoeuvring this gorgeous truck whilst delivering its precious cargos

"A quiet still life, or the life of an active thinker"
Anonomous books, exist ghostlike in a Margiela world, their presence hinting at scholarly endeavour, the containment of a multitude of intelligent words or technical diagrams or amusing nightime stories... who knows? The power of visual poetry inhibits the need to know or not? Just a book? Perhaps! The foundation, a 1920s French school desk. Weathered beech wood, ink stains and all. Height adjustable as the child user grows and learns. Terms turn to years. Evolution Education and that dreaded E-word Exams
My children are finishing their school year. Studies, concentration, weeks and months of hard work soon to be replaced by relaxation, adventure and much well deserved time off/out. So yet again the white 'ghost' books may return providing enlightenment against the chores of beachside boredom

"Through the eye of the needle"'...
From the haberdasher's counter and the bobbins supplied, I can only imagine the clothes sewn and the suits tailored using this robust Zwicky silk thread. A colourful multitude of Kilometres unwound, deftly connecting panels of fabric together, assembling garments of the highest quality thus offering years of elegant and fashionable pleasure to those that wear these sartorial creations!

"Don't cry over spilled ink"...
Or when a utensil, conceived for practicality matures beyond it's initial function into a
'thing' of calm and beauty.
These 18th century stoneware inkwells inspire me! I think of a writer's block, an accountant's complex calculations, a scribe crafting a letter for an illiterate client, the blissful wedded couple signing their mariage vows! I think of humanity's evolution into the digital world where the manually written word is replaced by a keyboard or the touch of a screen. Our analog world evaporating much like the ink in these wells over the passage of time...

“Faces in a crowd”…
We all have our identities, our particularities, some of us stand out, most of us blend in.
Anonymous or striking we are who we are. Tall or short, round or slim, blemished,
perhaps scarred yet never perfect. I have no preference as there is characterful beauty
everywhere. And it is this character that I seek, in the imperfections and in the
blemishes that some may call flaws! In objects this flaw is called patina! In humans
this flaw is called life!
