Emily Keating Art

Emily Keating Art I print coastal and botanical images by hand which I sell as framed art, notecards and mixed media art pieces.

I also use my art to design patterns for fabric and wallpaper.

Shout out to Tiffany at Wilks Works CT who expanded her shop this Fall to include lots of new space for makers to sell our work and has created a really cool spot to visit. She also helped connect some of us with her upstairs neighbor to host an impromptu small business Saturday pop-up that I enjoyed yesterday. When you visit Niantic, I definitely recommend checking out the WilksWorks gift shop at 271 Main Street near the old cinema!

I’m block printing new reusable gift bags this year! The fabric has a smoother texture than the wine bags, which makes the details show up more clearly. I’m bringing these to the shopping event at East Lyme, CT high school on Sunday and the Slater Museum Artisan craft show on Nov. 8th, swipe for details of those events. After that I will be (finally 😬) updating my website and doing more online listings leading up to the holidays. 🎄🥂

I’ve been squeezing in time for some new work with our big late summer hosta leaves. I made some new autumn leaf cards that sold out in Stonington before I could photograph them 🧡 I’m looking forward to a few more good printing sessions in October while we still have some plant materials outside to work with. 🌿🍂🌻
This coming season as the daylight grows shorter where I live, I hope to prioritize studio time and my family and figure out living in darker times. There is so much battering at my emotional health right now and I’m thankful that I have art as an outlet.
Next up: I’m happy to be returning to the Old Wethersfield Arts and Crafts show on the first Saturday in October, and trying out the indoor artisan show hosted by the Slater Museum in Norwich on Nov. 8th.
After that, you can find some of my smaller gift items and cards at both Colchester Gifts on the Green and Wilks Works gift shop in Niantic. My website also awaits my attention for sharing what I have available 😬

Getting ready for my next two day art festival (Glastonbury, CT) was my usual m.o. of getting inspired to make new work and then not getting some of my logistical details worked out to properly execute my vision. Still, I feel good about how my set up turned out today and I loved chatting about my art process with those who asked! I hope some visitors still attend tomorrow even if it’s rainy. Here’s a few quick pics of recent work with some of the late summer hosta leaves in our garden. I still need to update my website too but I’ve had the urgency to create while we still have some green leaves outside.

I had an entire month between my two full weekend shows this year and somehow the time has flown by with just a couple days left before I’ll be attending the Glastonbury, CT On the Green Fine Art and Craft show. It will be my first time there and I’m looking forward to meeting new people.

A birthday gift to myself was an overnight in Western Mass to print my big woodblock in my mom’s studio on her etching press. I also experimented with printing just a partial section of the block and will have a few of those with me this weekend.

All set up at until 1pm. It’s one of those rare perfect weather market days with just enough breeze to be comfortable without knocking anything over 😅

I’m gradually sealing these unfinished wooden panels, then mounting my botanical artwork, and adding a protective cold wax layer that hardens into a lovely finish with just a hint of sheen in the light after I burnish it. I’m bringing some with me tomorrow morning for the Waterford Farmers Market - a last minute addition to my schedule since my Thursday market was rained out. I don’t have any listed in my online shop yet but I hope to do an update mid-August when I have a break between events.

I had a great time in Old Lyme last weekend and I’ll be on the lookout for more events there! Thank you to all the lovely visitors for stopping at my tent to shop and chat about my process. I greatly appreciated everyone who supported me in various ways from family helping package up notecards during our vacation, to the organizers who got the spaces marked out and ready for an early morning set up, and to my husband who spent his Saturday doing everything I needed 💚💜
🌊Next up for me is the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival which will be my largest event I am participating in so far! Aug 9th and 10th, I’ll be at the Mystic Seaport Museum Shipyard area.
