Mr Fox buffed up nicely, and another button with the name of my home town of Fakenham on it, that's the second one now.
Buttons back in the day used to have personalities of their own. Tiny works of art, with flowers, animals, geometric patterns, names and places pressed into metal and made to last. Even the smallest details of clothes seemed to carry a bit of character back then. Today they’re mostly plain, plastic and dull to look at. Buttons are the most common artefact that I dig up, many are more than "just a button"
I like to think of the common button as a little survivors, with stories stitched into them.
The barrel cleaner is getting put to work , I'm loving the results.

We made a few batches today to restock supplies at .holt
I made 3 types today, from our biggest to our smallest.
The biggest being the Blomfields of East Dereham bottle. By 1879
SARAH BLOMFIELD was running the brewery. Blomfields was making mainly mineral waters from their premises in Theatre St. Dereham.
This bottle would have contained Ginger Beer. It's our biggest candle weighing in at a hefty 415g. It stands 17cm tall and has a burn time of approx 23 hours.
Our 2 smallest candles were moulded one from a vintage Vaseline bottle, beautifully embossed with the name of the inventer "Mr Cheesman" I personally dug this bottle out of the ground, and I just knew instantly it would make the nicest candle.
The other from a Kilner jar. These 2 small candles are my favourite ones to mould.

We're back β˜ΊοΈπŸ’›
Life has a funny way of pressing pause on the things we love sometimes. Between major surgery, and packing up a home to put it on the market, and all the chaos that comes with big life changes, WhissyWicks had to quietly sit on the shelf for a while.
But the wax is melting again, the wicks are being lit, and I’m finally ready to pick up where I left off. πŸ’›
Thank you for sticking around while life got in the way of my candle-making hobby. I’ve genuinely missed it. WhissyWicks is back πŸ’›

♻️Vintage glass bottles with a new life 🌿
Each of these wall vases are crafted using repurposed oak and paired with an embossed vintage bottle.
The bottles carry their history proudly β€” bubbles in the glass, softened embossing, and decades of character. The oak boards, each with its own grain like a fingerprint, make every piece truly one of a kind. ♻️
These particular wall vases are mounted to oak that was once a cupboard, giving it another purpose and a new life.
Sustainable, soulful & one-of-a-kind. Good for the planet 🌎 and better for your home.

We made our own moulds at Whissy Wicks, from our collection of vintage glass bottles.
Every tiny little detail in the bottles, their scars gained during their history, shows in the candle.
This is how we can correctly claim our candles to be unique.
