In this video, I’m adding in the first of my last Pennsylvania-grown wool: a gorgeous rich brown Romney from Sonshine Acres - The Clark Family , and I’m also trying to weave a bit more into some gaps with the Cotswold wool. This week I will also be sharing the videos of me moving this woven wool down onto the warp strings, and also how I keep my warp strings neat.

This is my last session before I will have enough wool on my pegs to move this woven wool down onto the warp strings- something I’ve never done 😅 Next session will also be featuring my last PA wool, a beautiful Romney, which I’ve previewed a bit in my wool combing videos. I’m so excited to share with you!

There’s something so grounding about the rhythm of combing gently washed Romney wool. 🐑✨ Each pass takes this fleece one step closer to becoming a hand-woven rug that will hold our family’s story for years to come. From the farms of Pennsylvania to my loom here on Whidbey Island, I love every part of this slow fiber journey.

🐑❤️ Friends, we could really use your help.

This summer’s heat has been brutal on our pastures, and with 154 sheep depending on us, we’re looking at about $10,000 just for hay to help get the flock through the coming months.

On top of that, we need to renovate our struggling pastures, repair our tractor, bring in gravel before the winter mud arrives, rebuild a shelter that collapsed this spring, and keep up with ever increasing veterinary costs.

So we’ve started Operation: Feed the Flock, with a goal of raising $15,000.

I know things are expensive for everyone right now, and I never take it lightly when I ask for help. If you can donate, thank you. Truly. If you can’t, sharing this fundraiser helps us too. ❤️

Every $21 buys a bag of grain.
Every $22 buys a bale of alfalfa.
Every $80 puts a big round bale in front of the flock.

These sheep don’t know what hay costs or that tractors break or that western Washington mud is apparently determined to swallow us whole.

They just know they’re safe, they’re fed, and they’re home.

And we’d really like to keep it that way. 🐑❤️

Sarah’s Family Rug session 2! This has been such a beautiful journey so far: cleaning the wool by hand, preparing it for spinning, spinning, and weaving it on my loom. I’m so grateful to live in a time that I can share this project with you, it means so much to me. 💜
