Some pieces are worth keeping—not because they perfectly match our homes, but because of the memories attached to them.
Our customer grew up seeing this little shuttered window piece in her aunt’s home. When her aunt downsized, she brought it home with her. She loved what it represented, but it simply didn’t fit the style of her own home.
She decided to paint it herself, but those shutters and all those little details proved more difficult than expected. She wasn’t happy with how it was turning out, so she brought it to us at Handlaget.
Her request was simple: navy shutters with crisp white window trim.
And now it’s finished and back where it belongs—in her home. ❤️
This little piece tells the story of what we believe at Handlaget:

At Handlaget, we believe the pieces that mean the most shouldn't end up in the basement, attic, garage, or at the curb.
Grandma's dining table... Your grandfather's workbench... The little rocking chair your children loved... The china cabinet that stood in your aunt's home for decades...
These aren't just pieces of furniture.
They're part of your family's story.
Sometimes they simply need a good cleaning and a fresh protective finish. Sometimes they need a new look that fits your home today. Sometimes they deserve a complete transformation.

Whether you want to restore a treasured heirloom, paint it yourself, or create something completely new, we're here to help.
✨ We carry carefully selected DIY products, including Wise Owl Paint and Redesign with Prima, chosen not only for their beautiful finishes but also because many of their products are zero- to low-VOC, making them a wonderful choice for your home and family.
✨ We don't just sell products—we teach you how to use them. Through classes, demonstrations, videos, and one-on-one guidance, we'll help you feel confident tackling your own project.
✨ Have questions? Call us. Bring your piece into the shop. Send us photos. We'll help you choose the right products, colors, and techniques. We believe buying locally should come with real support from someone who genuinely wants you to succeed.
✨ Prefer to have someone else do the work? We'd be honored to help with that too. We're currently booking custom painting projects for September, treating every piece with the same care and respect we would give our own family heirlooms.

As the daughter of a Philadelphia fireman and mother of a member of OCFD my heart is with everybody today. It is clear from all of the tributes Kenny was deeply loved.
Today we honor the life and service of Kenneth W. Po***ck.
A dedicated member of the Ocean City Fire Department, his courage, commitment, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire OCFD brotherhood and sisterhood as they gather today to celebrate his life.
Rest easy, Kenneth. We have the watch from here. ❤️🚒🇺🇸
