I did NOT expect this log to be this beautiful inside... 🤯

Every time I mill a log, it feels like opening a present. You never really know what's hiding inside until that first or second slab comes off.

This is one of the most sought-after species people ask me for. Can you guess what it is? 👀

Another log saved from going to the landfill 🌲

But I'm not entirely sure what species this is.. I need your help on this one. I thought it was cedar. It smells like cedar.. but it was not the color I was expecting..

I really want to build a live edge headboard out of these slabs.

What would you build?

I heard this tree crying in the distance… so I followed the sound and found it getting chopped down.
It was splitting down the middle and about to fall on a house.
They were just going to cut it up and haul it off to the landfill… so I asked if I could take it instead.
Now it gets a second life.
This is why I do what I do.
What would you build out of something like this?
Located in Northern Utah if anyone is interested.

These logs were about to end up in the landfill…
This is exactly why I started UtahTreeCycle. Taking what people see as waste and turning it into something worth keeping.
Most people think this is just a “weed tree”… but I see something completely different.
