Skein of my Existence

Skein of my Existence I love creating on-trend and retro-inspired, custom fiber art pieces for my clients. Crochet is my f Welcome to my creative corner of the world!

My name is Nicole and by day I’m a full-time piano teacher. I have always *loved* fiber arts. I first learned to embroider at my kindergarten Montessori school, and my mom taught me cross stitching and some macrame a little later on. I started crocheting when I was about 7 years old, but didn’t pick it up seriously until January 2020. Needless to say, I had plenty of time to practice during 2020,

and before long I started to receive custom orders from my friends and family. And now, here we are! I ended up loving crochet and diving into the fiber arts community, as I still absolutely love embroidery and macrame. I’m currently, slowly, learning to knit (but I don’t love it, yet.) My style focuses heavily on the tactile aspects of my items. I love to work with bulky, squishy yarns, silky smooth threads and fabrics, and fluffy pom poms! I maintain an eclectic style so I’m not afraid of using color and I don’t shy away from intricate patterns. I aim to create pieces that appeal to every taste and aesthetic, so if you don’t see something you love in my shop, DM me and let’s collaborate!

I’m loving the vintage vibe of this funky hexi-granny baby blanket! What I don’t love is weaving in ends and this thing has a TON. This blanket will be posted in my Etsy shop once it’s done. It’s SO soft already and it hasn’t even been washed yet. Let me know if you want to claim it!

Thunderstorms, coffee, and scrappy blankets are keeping me cozy this evening. I’ve ever made you anything, its spare parts are probably making a home right here! I love looking back at this little scrappy throw and seeing bits and pieces of my previous projects, many of which I don’t have anymore! And that’s a good thing 😅

What a beautiful weekend this has turned out to be! I redecorated our patio last weekend and I have just been soaking up this beautiful spring weather!

I’ve been working on this blanket for... ever... it seems like. Do you ever end up with a never-ending WIP? I love this one but I’m ready to be done! 😅

I’m going to enjoy another hour or so outside before getting ready to go to the Easter Vigil Mass at my parish. I’m so grateful to be able to return in person! How are you celebrating Easter this year?
