Some of the nicest parts of our days are easy to overlook.

A favorite song in the car. Sitting beside a friend at lunch. Time to draw, build, read, or play outside. Maybe the weather finally felt nice enough to stay outdoors for a while.

Not every day is exciting. Some days are frustrating, busy, disappointing, or just plain ordinary. Even then, there may be one moment that felt peaceful, interesting, comforting, or fun.

This week’s Around the Table question is:

“What did you enjoy today?”

It doesn’t have to be the best part of the day or something impressive. Small moments count.

Some dinners become regulars simply because they work.

Skillet Bacon Chicken Mac & Cheese is one of our favorites. The crispy bacon, seasoned chicken, onion, penne and plenty of sharp cheddar, all made in one skillet.

The pasta cooks right in the chicken broth, then just enough milk gets stirred in at the end to make everything creamy.

Simple, hearty, and very much a comfort-food kind of dinner.

I have always loved the rain.

There is something about the way it quiets everything for a little while. The air cools, the dust settles, the ground drinks deeply, and even the most tired parts of the world seem to come back to life.

After so much heat, this rain feels like a gift.

A reminder that renewal does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes it comes softly, one drop at a time, bringing a little rest and new life with it.

Today, I’m grateful for the rain.
