So I did a thing. 😎

Our kiddo is marrying the most amazing bonus daughter you could ask for, so when she asked me to make a sign for their wedding, of course I couldn’t say no.

Full disclosure, beyond designing the layout and cutting the acrylic backer, I didn't have a clue how to do this. 😆 So I studied and studied and watched YouTube tutorials and studied some more, and I thought to myself, I've got this! 💪🏼🤓

Well, it was a little more involved than I thought. 😵‍💫😆 Those darn YouTube tutorials glossed over a few key details.

But ya know what?? I learned about wiring and electrical loads and parallel circuits and all of the adhesives that don't work with silicone and acrylic, and I taught myself how to solder, and - of course - figured out a lot of stuff that I won't do next time. 😁

I love expanding my skills set and pushing my comfort levels, and am oh so grateful for the stubborn streak that keeps me from throwing in the towel when things aren't going quite as planned. The finished project makes it all worthwhile. 🧡

It isn't perfect, BUT, it looks pretty darn cool all lit up and everything works the way it should, so I'm calling it a win! 🏆😆

Custom frame building... fun? Nope. Worth it? Absolutely! On good days, I'm a master craftsman, and on bad days, I'm just a master of confusion. Still, being able to whip up frames that fit my art perfectly is the ultimate reward, even if it kills me sometimes. 🔥😅

THIS is a big part of the reason that I've recently switched from prefinished wood veneer products to hardwood plywoods for my lake art. In the past, I've agonized over trying to clean up every little bit of resin overspill before it cured - and if you've worked with resin, you know that this can quickly lead down a path of diminishing returns... 🙄😅

My primary reason for making the switch is the clear contrast in the quality and craftsmanship in the final product. Night and day difference! BUT... it is also soooooo satisfying when you hit a cured piece with the sander and end up with these crisp shorelines. 🤩💙

My fellow OCD warriors will appreciate this - if you know, you know! 😎🤭
