White Sands/NASA G3 Glass Phenolic - ⭐️Available!⭐️

It’s here!

This is a G3 glass phenolic from the White Sands test facility for a NASA test rocket. This material is used as a housing to protect from the rocket’s solid propellant. Extremely cool stuff!

All of this material has an absolutely incredible patina that will only get better with time! I have had several requests to save as much patina/material as possible, so this batch will not be flattened on the bottom. After a quick flattening with a belt sander, you will be left with a scale just under a half of an inch thick.

This is a very limited drop! I have enough to go around for a bit, but once it’s gone, that’s it. I don’t have a way to procure more of this spectacular material.

These slabs are sold INDIVIDUALLY. They are easily thick enough to rip into a set of folder scales, but you will likely want two for a fixed blade.

5” x 1.5” x .5” Mono Slab - $125 Shipped to the U.S.

Vintage 1960’s Sea Green Marbled U.S. Catalin/Bakelite - ⭐️Available!⭐️

Beautiful, vintage sea green marbled catalin/bakelite with a bit of translucency! This stuff takes a polish like nothing else! And because it’s made with phenolic resin, it will continue to age and patina as time goes on! Because it’s was so great, I left a good deal of patina on the backside of these pieces for those of you who like to leave some patina on the material.

Bakelite has kind of become a catchall term (like Kleenex) for early phenolic resins, but nearly all of the stuff we call Bakelite that isn’t black or brown is actually catalin. The big difference between catalin and Bakelite is that Bakelite uses a filler (typically wood flour) which makes it opaque. Because of that, catalin takes an even nicer polish! The other big difference is that Bakelite uses pressure to set the resin, while catalin is put in lead molds and placed in giant ovens and cooled very slowly.

Figure runs all the way through the material.

These are sold INDIVIDUALLY! If you would like a set of scales, you will need to purchase two mono scales/slabs.

VERY limited supply!

5”+ x 1.5” x .17”+ Slab/Mono Scale - $80 Shipped to the U.S.

Chittum Burl Block (K&G stabilized) - ⭐️Available!⭐️

Extremely, EXTREMELY rare!!! For the most part, chittum only grows around Huntsville, Alabama and comes from the American Smoke Tree. Finding the wood available is hard enough, getting a hold of a knife handle sized burl is about impossible as the roots typically have to be blasted out of the limestone…. Finding a piece this size about as rare as it gets!

Very unique color and figure!

This has been stabilized by K&G.

Massively oversized block!

5.8” x 1.8” x 2” Chittum Burl Block - $250 Shipped to the U.S.

It’s here!!!

The White Sands/NASA G3 Glass Phenolic from the test rocket has arrived! I will be spending most of next week processing this into knife scales for you all!

We will likely offer these as ~5” x 1.5” x .5” slabs that are thick enough to rip into a set of folder scales. You will likely want to grab a couple of slabs if you are planning a fixed blade build.

This has by far been one of the most popular materials I have offered. It will be in very limited supply, and once it’s gone, it’s gone! I do t have a way to procure more.

Own a little piece of history!
