Jack Colker’s 76 Station located on the southwest corner of ‘Little’ Santa Monica Blvd. and N. Crescent Drive in Beverly Hills. The Union 76 gas station was designed by architect Gin Wong of Pereira and Associates and completed in 1965. The design came earlier, though, and was meant for a very different location: in 1960, Wong designed the building to be part of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Its futuristic style was intended to complement the airport’s famous Theme Building. But since it didn’t work out with the overall LAX plan, this amazing building ended up as a gas station in Beverly Hills. Photo dated 2012. Source: Curbside Classic

The color of this museum isn’t painted.

Zaha Hadid Architects’ new Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum is wrapped in dual-colour INCO stainless steel, creating its deep blue-to-grey gradient without paint.

Spanning 128,276 m² / 1.38 million ft², the museum rises from a solid spherical form into layered terraces overlooking the Science Park.

Constructed between 1967 and 1972 by the College Life Insurance Company, these 11-story, pyramid-shaped office buildings were designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Kevin Roche. Two sides of each pyramid are concrete walls that face a nearby highway; the opposite two sides are glass curtain walls that face the landscaped grounds and a large pond. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, the complex still exists largely intact and are now known simply as "The Pyramids." (Photo: Jimmy Baikovicius)

At the Johnson Wax headquarters in Wisconsin, the Research Tower was built in 1950 from a design by Frank Lloyd Wright. Cantilevered from a giant central stack, the tower's floor slabs spread out like tree branches, with elevator and stairway channels running up the reinforced concrete core. (Photo: Frank E.
