I’m still here! šŸ¤—

Oh man, the last year has been a tough one. A very tough one. A lot of change, challenge and growth. Learning about myself and how I can best serve others. Learning more independence and how to be more present.

I haven’t been posting much - but I’ve been still steadily working and Mom-ing and writing and being with my friends and family. Growth can be painful and also so beautiful!

My favorite poem/lyrics pretty much sum up the last year:

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in

- Leonard Cohen

DIY: Fireplace Tile

This was a hard one for me! My first tiling project. I’ve watched and taken notes from tile installers over the years. They make it look easy! But it’s NOT easy to get the precise cuts, symmetrical patterns, etc., etc.

I demo’d out the tile (with a crowbar + hammer - very Home Alone. Kevinnnnn!!!) and sat with a tile-less fireplace for a couple of months. I wasn’t sure on the pattern.

I’m so glad it’s done! šŸ˜‚šŸ’ŖšŸ»
Sky pup kept photobombing me with Eduardo, her shrimp taco. So here she also is - making herself known. šŸ˜†

WHOA. One of the best before + afters!

I designed this kitchen in the summer of 2024 and went yesterday to grab some pics. I love it SO much! The colors, the style, the complete and utter transformation.

The reality with this project is that if something could’ve gone wrong, it most certainly DID. šŸ˜‚ I always say that when you do a remodel you find the shortcuts previous owners or contractors did. This was a doozy! Sheesh.

But the end result is stunning - I think now in my top 5 kitchen transformations! M & B - thank you for trusting me to help you with this project! 😊

::Before + After: A Very Large Desk::

Coming at you with another DIY. I can’t stop! I’m a Pisces and I just need to create!

We are big crafters over here, and I wanted to consolidate our materials (mess). I couldn’t find the right size desk online, and anything custom was $$. So with no directions whatsoever, I made a 13’ long desk with 3 ā€œstationsā€ for me and the kids to go crazy. First I put up a mural I found on Amazon and made a mess with the adhesive. Obviously.

I had a guy at Home Depot cut the oak pieces to size and used stair balusters as legs, well, because they’re pretty. I also constructed a backsplash using stair risers and then made a 13’ floating shelf to display our art, with many brackets.

Oh - and I learned how to properly use drill bits. The pre-drill is really where it’s at! šŸ’…šŸ»

I’m super happy with how it came out. If it’s structurally sound remains to be seen…

I figured the last day of the year was a good time to post! It’s been an incredibly difficult last few months - and even though I’ve been working, posting has fallen to the wayside. So here’s a DIY I finished a few weeks ago for a bench/hook project. Love the revamp!

1. Much better! Also it will never be this clean again
2. Before - white and black, broken hooks, unfinished - also best helper EVER
3. Joint compounded! Thanks for the tip!
4. Sanding many, many, many times 😳
5. Paint prep
6. First painting
7. Rain ponchos work for dust protection! Just sayin’
8. Wallpapered!
9. Mascot for everything

This was a fun one. I love a starting concept or memento to work around. My client asked for a room for her teen daughter designed around the vinyl of The Life of a Showgirl. Girl, signnnnn me up. Her daughter also liked the beachy ideas I sent. I love how the blend came out and can’t wait to see the finished product!

Can you spot the subtle difference in these two mood boards?!

We stayed at the dreamiest beach house over the weekend for my Aunt’s wedding. In a world of private equity-owned rentals, what an amazing sight to see such a thoughtfully done home. Every corner had such detail! Much appreciation to our hosts.

So…the last picture. My Mom and I snuck over to an antique store, and I saw this wood duck. Next to the duck was a little bag, marked: ā€œclothes for duck.ā€ So the duck came home with me, and I was upstairs when my daughter dressed him. I laughed so hard when I saw this getup. I was expecting a shirt or a dress or something?! Anyway - his name is Curtis. Unfortunately, Curt didn’t make it home with us, since I left him in a bag on the porch. Still trying to retrieve Curt.

Not my usual before + after!

The previous owners of this house actually did a great job furnishing and styling this home. My clients liked the old style, but with updates - like a large sectional to fit their family.

I’m not an influencer, but if I was, should really hit me up. Another Gather sectional (and happy client!) and the Drew swivel chairs.

P.S. - I posted in my stories the other day that I got stopped by loss prevention at Target - maybe my fault for taking a bunch of pillows through self checkout. In my defense, there was only one cashier. And he’s the sweetest man, but I was in a hurry, if you know what I mean. Anyway - I was returning some items from a few clients yesterday and this broad was stalking me again. She must be new and doesn’t know the frequency/item quantity of my visits. šŸ˜‚šŸ™„

Continuing with my favorite Before + Afters ✨

Man, I wish I took this photo from the same angle! Ha. My favorite part of this remodel is the backdrop of the tile wall. It’s such a great anchor. I can’t tell you how many of those full-wall vanity mirrors I’ve taken out. Glue. So much blasted glue! Which then of course means drywall repair. Builders just looove to put in those mirrors.

That’s all I got - Happy Friday!

After ——> Concept/Before

I’ve been listening to a ā€˜90s alt rock station this week and this song came on. Ahhh…memories. It’s also in a movie I quote at least twice a month. Any guesses?! Haha. ā€œYou can’t triple stamp a double stamp!ā€

I’ve already waxed poetic about this house. The bones are so good, it just needed some furnishings and flavor. I would love to live there! šŸ˜
