What changed here isn’t the table.

It’s the intention.

Most people leave a surface like this either empty…
or filled without thought.

Neither creates a feeling.

What I did here was simple:
– I anchored the space with a tray
– I added height with a single organic element
– I layered in texture through books and objects
– And I gave the eye a place to rest

Nothing excessive. Nothing random.

Just enough to make the table feel considered.

There is something so quietly reassuring about watching the trees begin to wake up again.

Here in western Pennsylvania, the branches that have looked bare and still for months are finally softening. Tiny buds are appearing, just the slightest hint of green and it feels like a promise being kept.

Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just nature, doing what it does, right on time.

April Fools’ Day has always fascinated me.

Not because of the pranks. Honestly, I’ve never been much of a “gotcha” person. Life has delivered enough plot twists on its own without me needing to manufacture any.

But I do think there’s something quietly brilliant about a day that reminds us how easily we can be fooled… not just by other people, but by our own assumptions.

We think we know how something is going to turn out.
We think we understand the full story.
We think we’ve read the room, the person, the situation.

And then, plot twist.

In my world, in design, in business, even in this unexpected chapter of working in customer experience, I see it all the time. What people think is the problem is almost never the real issue. There’s always another layer, another truth waiting underneath the surface.

April Fools, but make it useful:

Pause before you react.
Look twice before you decide.
Stay open to being wrong, because that’s usually where the real clarity lives.
