Well, the wedding is over, our friends are happily married, and the backyard survived! It was a wonderful day!

Now it’s time to get back to some projects I’ve been really excited about finishing! Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s on my worktable.

But first, I need your help with a quick poll!

Do you decorate your front door or porch with seasonal door hangers? And if so, what’s your preference?

A. Go BIG! An 18–20” statement piece on the front door.

B. Keep it smaller! A 10–12” piece tucked into a cute porch vignette.

C. Both! Depends on the season and my mood.

I’m definitely a BIG statement piece kind of gal, but I’m curious what everyone else likes!

Don’t let a few morning sprinkles keep you away!

It’s market day in downtown Mount Vernon, and the weather is looking very PNW — a few showers this morning, then clouds breaking up with some sunshine trying to make an appearance this afternoon. 🙌

Throw on a light jacket, grab a coffee, and come wander the Valley Made Market! I’ll be there with ornaments, car charms, Card Keepers, signs and plenty of other things you probably didn’t know you needed until you saw them.

How is this already the LAST Valley Made Market of the summer?!

I’ll FINALLY be at Riverwalk Park in downtown Mount Vernon this Sunday, September 13 from 10–4 for one more summer market!

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks bouncing from Labor Dave Weekend at the Gorge ➡️ an HR conference in Spokane ➡️ straight back into market prep, because apparently I don’t believe in sitting still.

I’ll have lots of favorites with me, plus a fresh batch of car charm air fresheners, ornaments, Card Keepers, signs, minis and more. And yes… despite it still technically being summer, Christmas has definitely started creeping into my booth. 🎄

Come wander the market, enjoy the riverfront, shop some really talented local makers, and stop by to say hi! I’d love to see you.

Apparently “traveling for work” does not mean taking a break from market prep.

Fresh off DMB Labor Day weekend, I headed straight to Spokane for an HR conference for my day job…and because the Valley Made Market is THIS Sunday, part of my workshop apparently needed to come with me.

Laptop? Check.
Conference clothes? Check.
Random bags of beads, glue, Highland cows, and everything I need to squeeze in a fresh batch of car charm air fresheners? Also check.

Because why sit quietly in a hotel room when you could be assembling inventory?

This is the behind-the-scenes part of Valley Grown Handcrafts you don’t always see. Everything in my booth is made by me - usually at home in my workspace, but occasionally wherever I can find a flat surface and an outlet.

I’ll be home soon to pull the rest of it together, and then it’s off to the Valley Made Market this Sunday!

A little market update from us. ❤️

We’re going to sit out this weekend’s Valley Made Market.

Josh is still recovering from his broken leg, and I’m dealing with a stubborn carpal tunnel flare-up—so between the two of us, we’re currently working with approximately one fully functioning human.

As much as we hate missing a market weekend, giving ourselves a little more recovery time is the smart thing to do.

But we’ll be back September 13!

I’ve already been working on some fall pieces, so you’ll find a mix of old favorites and new fall décor waiting for you—including a few of these guys.

For now, we’re resting and recovering (okay, I may still be dreaming up new things).

Thank you for always being so supportive of us and this little handmade business of mine.

We’ll see you September 13 at Valley Made Market!

I had 14 birch panels to stain and clear coat for my August market, but I also wanted to watch Ted Lasso.

So… I improvised.

Green beans. Sardines. Smoked salmon. Spam.

Turns out they’re just the right height to become drying racks. 😂

Sometimes “running a handmade business” looks less like a Pinterest-perfect workshop and more like raiding the pantry because it gets the job done.

But that’s the beauty of handmade.

Every piece starts as a plain sheet of birch, gets stained, sealed, engraved, assembled, and finished by me—one step at a time.

This is one of the new Card Keepers headed to my booth at Valley Made Market. I designed these to hold the cards, notes, recipes, letters, and little memories that are just too special to throw away.

Because some words really are worth keeping. 🤎

We still loved the stools…just not the peeling seats. So instead of replacing perfectly good furniture, we spent an afternoon giving them a fresh look.

I’m pretty happy with how they turned out!

Sometimes “new” is just a little creativity away.
