🧶💚 Mental Health Mondays 💚🧶
I’ve wanted to fold in some intentionality with sharing around mental health and my relationship with it; I'm going to work towards consistently showing up on Mondays with some soft reflections around mental health, creativity, and rest - because honestly? They’re all deeply connected for me.
This past week, I took a little staycation from my day job (as a trauma and addiction therapist) - and I thought I’d spend it deep in crochet mode. But as the days passed, I realized I needed a break there too. All the excitement, all the ideas… can so easily turn into self-made pressure if I’m not careful.
So I rested. I played. I spent time connecting with my family and let the stillness remind me who I am when I’m not in any kind of "output mode." We planted a little joy on our back deck (literally—herbs and peppers!), played a new game together with my sister, spent the holiday supporting my husband at a race and sharing baseball and fireworks with extended family, my husband and I tacked our first joint landscaping project.. We soaked up all the family time with bikes, water slides, discovering life in unexpected places, and everything in between... When I did pick up my hook, it was for something simple and joyful: a birthday gift for one of my kiddo’s neighborhood friends.
(Cute aside, I was absolutely mining for info about favorite animals and colors - and he never saw it coming 😂 Red axolotl. Perfection.)
Watching my kids deliver the gift, and the pure joy on his face seeing his favorite combo come to life - it was a full-circle moment. A soft reminder of why I love handmade magic in the first place.
This sweet, low-stress pattern by was exactly what I needed to reconnect with that joy.
Here’s to choosing rest before burnout, to handmade kindness, and to coming home to what we love—over and over again.
I'd love to hear how you reconnect to yourself or come back from the beginnings of creative burnout 💚
