💙 An Announcement I Never Thought I’d Have to Make…

This is a post I truly dreaded having to make. After all the hard work, planning, and excitement leading up to the opening of Indigo Blue Antiques & Mercantile, it breaks our hearts to announce that we are postponing our soft opening until a later date, which will be announced soon.

With the current weather conditions and the state of emergency in Bay County, the safety of our vendors, their families, our customers, and our entire community must come first. As much as we have been looking forward to opening our doors, we simply cannot put anyone’s safety at risk.

This is only a postponement—not a cancellation. 💙
We will be ready to welcome you as soon as it is safe to do so, and we promise the wait will be worth it!

Please keep our community, our surrounding areas, and everyone affected by this storm in your prayers. 🙏🏻💙

Big difference threading an 8 shaft pattern , 7+ hrs to a 4 shaft complex pattern only took me 4+ hrs and I'm back in my happy place weaving. 😀
Only 1 more to thread and to decide what to put on my Big Maggie. She's been empty for a while. May just need to put a small warp on her so she's not lonely.

Been a while since I posted.. adulting has gotten in the way 🤣. And I finally got to move some things in the vendor store I am setting up in!! EXCITING!!
Now I'm back at it.
Step 5. Threading/Sleying reed
This is a long step. Some break this down into 2 steps... threading then sleying reed. I do all at one time in sections.
I forgot to keep my time on this one since I was in and out. I will keep track on the next one.
After step 5, I tie on the apron rod and THEN the weaving BEGINS! YAY!

Step #4 in my process. Counting heddles. 😫 I am not a fan of this step. If I'm lucky I don't have to add heddles.. that is my most hated part of the whole weaving process. Adding/removing heddles. This is 1 reason I like large looms. I put enough heddles on to never have to add more. Let's see if I have enough for my pattern on the Leclerc loom which is 24" one of my smaller ones.

EDIT: I had to add more heddles on shaft 1 and 2. Hopefully I counted right.

Ready to thread this one. I guess I now have to say that warping a sectional beam is actually quicker than winding warp and winding on loom. This only took me about 5 hours total. The other took me 6 hrs warping and 7 hrs winding. Now should I get sectional beams for all my looms 😁

Next loom to get a warp & wind at the same time is my 32"Macomber. She has a Leclerc sectional beam kit. I do like the rakes on this one and that you can get little thread guide attachments. I also use the Leclerc sectional box with thread counter. It makes sure I wind on the same yardage on each 1" section. I mark when I do the 1st one so I know for all the others. (If I walk away I may forget.. sucks getting old) I have found I like basically doing 2 steps at one time but haven't found that it's less time consuming. Almost half done for today. 20 yards going on this one.

Finished winding on that long warp. I may have been too ambitious putting that much on one of the smaller looms. Maybe not so much next time.
It took me less time than I really thought. I started at about 11:30am and ended at 630pm. I did stop quite a few times. So it's not the full 7 hours to wind on 15 yards.

I haven't totally finished winding warps. I still have 1 loom empty. But I needed to start putting what I had on the loom so I could get to weaving.
Step 3 - Winding warp on back of loom

This involves 1. putting it on the back rod then 2. putting lease sticks in the cross area then 3. Spreading the threads across the raddle for how wide you want the cloth 4. then finally winding that 15 yards all on the back beam

I am pretty independent so I don't ask for help winding on. I was taught to use books to hold the thread under tension and wind.. move books.. wind till it's all on. So let's see how long it's going to take me by myself to wind on 15 yards.
