I went to the lavender festival yesterday to support my friend Buffie. She and I worked together to make decor for her booth. I hand painted signs and made original art work for some of her lavender products.
When I arrived her tent did look homemade among all the ai and computer generated art. It wasn’t “clean or crisp” as other tents. It was homey. I scrutinized my own artwork and knowing I did it less than a day I gave myself grace over the lines that I should have made cleaner and the composition that could’ve been better laid out…
But Clear View Farm and Buffie Myers won the best tent award. I think the world’s eyes are getting tired of the computer generated art. ❤️
I know for myself I don’t want to partake in any business or event that using this form of marketing.
Please please reach out to artists to hire. Buffie and I arranged bartering trade for my services. Younger artists are affordable and willing to work. Please support the younger artists and stop killing our farm land by using ai.

Art blocks happen.
Usually a painting flows out of me and I get excited how easily things come together. But I have not created a piece for myself in months that I am proud of. (Mind you, I have been able to create commissions, just not pieces for myself.) So, I am combating the block with a style I am horrible using. I have grabbed myself a sketch book and my goal is to fill it with “bad” art with the soul purpose to struggle and learn. If I am trying a style I am unfamiliar with I no longer have the expectation on myself that everything I produce should be “good”. Also painting in a book that I can hide away removes the expectation that it must be worthy of being seen.
Hopefully I will bust the block and grow as an artist.

Im taking commissions.
I mainly create memorial paintings. 8x10 watercolors. I don’t post these paintings often because they are personal to those who have commissioned them.
Recently I was hired to create a recreation of a family oil painting that was lost in a fire. I did my best to interpret a photo, of a photo, of an oil painting of a family home. 
Watercolor is a completely different medium than oil. Much like a book and a movie that tell the same story are different.
The client was happy with his painting although it was a third of the size of the original and painted with an entirely different type of paint, so I am happy.

I charge 150. For 8x10 memorial commissions. I can send you examples of what I have done in the past. Or if I have made one for you please feel free to share in the comments.

Using acrylic or oil I do charge much more.
