I’ve had quite a few people ask me over the past several months if I’m still going to offer painted furniture, so after getting another message about it today, I thought I’d answer it here. 🤎
The short answer is YES — I still love painted furniture, and you will absolutely still see painted pieces at 309 Redesign! I even have painted furniture in my own home.
Over the last year and a half or so, though, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve been doing more and more stained pieces. That shift has been intentional.
When I’m sourcing furniture now, I’m really focusing on finding quality, solid, well-made pieces that are worth restoring and giving another life. There are quite a few furniture painters in our area offering beautiful painted pieces at a variety of price points, so I’ve found myself leaning into something that isn’t quite as easy to find locally — quality wood furniture with beautiful stained finishes.
It’s also what I’ve seen the biggest demand for from my customers. Over the past few years, the majority of requests I receive are for stained or natural wood pieces rather than fully painted furniture.
You can absolutely find stained furniture in retail stores and online, but finding a truly well-made wood piece with a beautiful finish — without getting into some pretty hefty price tags — can be difficult. That’s where I want to step in.
My goal is to find those older, quality pieces with great bones and bring them back to life in a way that feels current, timeless, and worthy of staying in someone’s home for years to come.
That doesn’t mean paint is going anywhere! Sometimes a piece is absolutely meant to be painted, and sometimes a combination of paint + natural wood is what makes it come alive. (My personal fav has always been two toned)
So yes, you’ll still see painted pieces from me. 🤍 You’ll just continue to see more stained furniture than painted as I focus on quality wood pieces and the finishes my customers have been asking for most.
And as always, I’m excited to keep mixing things up and bringing you pieces that feel special, unique, and a little different from what you can find everywhere else. 🤎
I try to post this and that options with furniture pieces to my page regularly so I can get a feel for what clients are looking for so I definitely keep you guys in mind when I’m working on a piece!
