There’s still time to sign up. See link in bio or visit mysticmv.com! Polaroid Emulsion Lifts this Sunday (5/17) 2-5pm. You don’t need to bring anything or have any experience with Polaroid. Will be printing with the Polaroid lab and your mobile phone. Then we’ll lift the image out of the Polaroid frame and onto watercolor paper that you can frame or send to a friend.

This piece started with a photograph I took almost eight years ago — a Snowy Egret standing in the shallows at Shollenberger Park, perfectly doubled by its own reflection.
The ancient Egyptians called this bird the Bennu. A symbol 𓅥 of creation and rebirth, always depicted at the water’s edge.
Four Polaroid emulsion lifts, pieced together and floated onto teabag paper, laminated to washi, framed by a window of darkened papyrus — aged by soaking in water. Everything in this piece comes from water: the bird, the plant, the process.
I’m honored to share that Bennu at Shollenberger has been accepted into Time and Tide: An Artful Exploration of Petaluma’s Wetlands at the .
Opening reception: April 9, 5–7 PM. Come see it in person.

New workshop! I’m teaching Cyanotype at on Saturday, March 7th, 1-4pm.

We’ll make prints using one of the oldest photographic processes around — coating, exposing, and processing your own pieces to take home. No experience needed, all materials provided.

Dive into the dreamy, hands-on world of Polaroid emulsion lifts in this two-hour creative workshop. Learn how to transform instant film into ethereal, one-of-a-kind artworks by separating and transferring the delicate emulsion layer onto new surfaces like watercolor paper, glass, or wood.

You’ll get a brief introduction to the history and chemistry behind instant film, then jump straight into guided, step-by-step demonstrations. All materials will be provided—including Polaroid prints—so you can explore this tactile process and create your unique emulsion lift piece (on watercolor paper) to take home.

Perfect for photographers, mixed-media artists, or anyone curious about analog image-making techniques. No prior experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and a steady hand!

Papyrus is an, aquatic sedge (Cyperus papyrus) and was used by the ancient Egyptians as paper. It’s also my canvas. I transfer Polaroids and Cyanotypes onto it. My photographs transform into time portals when I place them on its surface. 🫶🏼
