Sharing this one today: This is my husband's favorite flower. He has been growing these since his stage 3 bladder cancer diagnosis because it give him some sense of normalcy. He's grateful that he is still mobile and able to plant and grow flowers and vegetables not knowing how long he maybe able to get around, but for now that is what he likes. These are multicolor zinnias in vivid magenta and coral that bring a straightforward lift to his day. Rounded blooms with tiny yellow centers sit among cool green leaves, and small details like notched leaves and a quiet fence in the background keep it feeling lived-in. I like that it’s uncomplicated color that lasts through summer into frost and pulls in butterflies and bees that remind us life is everywhere. I had fun painting this piece and was trying to get out of my comfort zone. I battle the voices that tell me I' not good enough and struggle with not comparing myself to others. It's sometime hard to get out of my own head, but I push on and shrug it off tell myself that God gave me this talent for some reason and the fun part is trying to figure out what to do with it. I am pretty proud of how it came out and I thank God for the talent he gave me. I just hope that I am glorifying him with the love of creating that he has instilled in me. Hope you like this too. Loving the camper. Doing some work around here to get things ready. Have a few projects to do this year and I’m thinking of some ways to keep the squirrels out of the bird feeder.

World Art Day exists because someone decided that art, as a living practice, deserved a day of recognition.

"Scarlet Beauty" is part of that practice.

For an independent artist, it's a moment to reflect on what it all means and say thank you.

That's why I'm offering 25% off with code ARTDAY26.

This is last year, when I bought a bird feeder that stated that it was Squirrel Proof. WELL does that look like it’s squirrel proof. This year we have a mission “ Mission Outsmart Squirrel” Let’s see if we can keep them out.

A vertical column of gladiolus blooms unfolds in sunlit pinks and butter-yellow, each ruffled trumpet rimmed with brighter fuchsia. I like how the soft gradients move from a warm lemon throat to pale peach, and how the serrated edges and layered forms create a gentle rhythm down the stalk. The background foliage melts into a muted green so the flowers read as sculptural without feeling busy. The petals catch light in a way that reveals subtle veins and a satin surface, giving a sense of both fragility and quiet resilience. Happy World Art Day.

Art isn't decoration. It's a record of what we noticed, what moved us, what we wanted to hold onto. "Radiant Rose in Bloom" is part of that conversation.

In honor of today, I'm offering 25% off in my shop through Saturday. Code: ARTDAY26.
