Earlier in the day as we sat and sipped our coffee I spotted a bear lumbering up the hill though the meadow towards this lake. He is the first bear I have seen in the wild and I have been camping all of my life. I jumped up and yelped, “it’s a bear! It’s a bear!!” In pursuit we cautiously followed behind and watched as he had his morning snack of fresh fish from Fletcher Lake. As the sun set later that day I returned to the spot with my Scout for this painting.

Returning to civilization and not sure I am ready. The past five days have been amazing, hiking in the high country at with . I brought along my Scout Plein Air box of course even though it added another 8 lbs to my pack and I was able to paint each day! My fellow adventures and I, (there were 5 of us in total) explored the meadows, trekked up Vogelsang summit and swam in every lake we encountered! I could have stayed out there forever!
