Dick Sheremeta Woodworker/Furniture Maker

Dick Sheremeta Woodworker/Furniture Maker I've been doing woodwork ever since I was a little shaver, many many years ago. As the years progressed, so did my interest and knowledge in woodworking.

My creativity ranges from unique one-of-a-kind furniture pieces to useful kitchen gadgets and home decor. My interest and experience in woodworking started when I was a youngster when I first started making "Battleships" in my parent's basement from scraps of wood. I've been doing woodworking now for over 50 years making unique furniture pieces as well as home decor. My work has been exhibited in many galleries over the years and I am the recipient of numerous awards.

From raw lumber (Hickory) to finished Bed Tray/Adjustable Worktable. It was time to put some of the fallen Hickory Tree that I harvested a year ago last fall to some good use. I think my wife will enjoy this.

I needed a box for a Stanley No. 45 Combination Plane that I had purchased last summer. It came in a metal bread baking tin and that simply wouldn't do. I had some nice White Oak from a tree we harvested on our property last spring that had been air dried and was ready for something to be made from it. The sides are all 5/8" thick and connected together with finger joints, and the top is Mahogany Veneer. The inner false bottom was designed to hold all of the plane's parts in a neat and orderly manner. Add some nice vinyl stickers along with brass hardware and we're done.

It's been a while since I've last made a post - been very busy creating a new, professional looking website. This endeavor has been occupying all of my time lately as it's a big task. Hopefully it'll be going live very soon - so keep and eye out for the announcement!

Then I can get back in the shop where I'm better suited to doing things.

Fully restored No 5 Type 15 Stanley Bench Plane. Almost like new but left some patina on sides for a little added character.

First photo shows how it arrived in its original condition - it's the second plane from the top. Others are awaiting their turn in the restoration mill.
