Sometimes, I’ll pick up a piece of glass and it will instantly tell me what it was meant to be. That happened last week. I held a piece of glass up and my mind flew to “waffle cone”—perhaps I was a bit hungry at the time.

Fast forward to today, National Ice Cream Day, and obviously I had to make an ice cream cone. But not just any cone. This cone is special as it will hang in the window of one of my favorite places—Granny's Chip Chocolate Ice Cream & Candy Shop! I’m so honored to have made this piece for the shop’s owners, Lori and Bryce who are always welcoming, kind, and just all together enjoyable. They support the community of Frontenac, it’s schools, and offer a wonderful place to gather with family and friends. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend them. My son would tell you to get the chocolate in a cake cone. I prefer the Stellar Coffee in a waffle bowl. No matter how you order it, a sweet treat served by friendly folks is what you’ll get!

I’ll add a photo of it hanging once we get it secured in place! For now, here are a few I grabbed before handing it off. Enjoy my take on their adorable logo!

Now that we’ve had a day to catch our breath, I’d like to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make Frontenac Mining Days such a success!

Thank you to the steadfast volunteers who work tirelessly to organize the event every year and always make sure that we’re taken care of and feel welcomed as a vendor.

To my customers, new and faithful, thank you for coming out to support me through your kind words and purchases of my art. I hope your purchases bring you happiness each time you see them. Know that every one was made with love.

Finally, I’d like to thank my family for being my biggest champions. From my mom and dad who come for the day long event each year to my son who is my biggest hype man, to my other family who share my art and help get the word out about what I’m up to, thank you!!! The biggest of thanks goes to my husband who has put in so much time and effort to give me the time it takes to create my art. He’s given me advice, a shoulder when needed, and even made all of the stands for my pieces. I couldn’t be Bumble Stained Glass without him!

TODAY IS THE DAY! We will be set up and ready to see all of you from 9 to dark at Frontenac Mining Days in beautiful downtown Frontenac!

Before we do, here’s one last feature—you didn’t think a studio called Bumble would fail to have bee related pieces, did you? These 2 pieces are a tribute to our hard working honeybee hive that we are raising. For me, our hive is a symbol of teamwork and strength in supporting one another and the intricate honeycombs made of mixed amber glass reflect that same theme. Some see these beauties for yourself today!

Give me all the lily pad-covered ponds with the big bullfrogs croaking and dragonflies flitting about! I could sit and rest by that scene any day!

This is the inspiration for this water lily piece. The beautiful swirl of the pink glass coupled with the hand beaded adornments add whimsy and charm to this large piece (about 8 inches overall) which is anchored by a playfully textured green lily pad. We’re only 3 days away from Frontenac Mining Days (technically it starts tomorrow-go check out all the amazing events!). We will be set up all day Saturday, July 8th! Come see us!

Bison bison. The American Buffalo. The Ambassador of the West. To me, no silhouette is quite as iconic as the buffalo. I was inspired to make these after having visited Yellowstone a few years ago and also because I’ve hiked with these magnificent mammals in a state park close to where we live. Seeing them up close (through binoculars—we respect the “give them space” rules) takes your breath away. I highly recommend getting out and seeing buffalo in person at least once in your life!
