Whether or not Ray knows it, he’s getting a tiny “Wild Oleander” hoodie made just for him using our Monster Mash colorway just in time for the Wickedly Handmade Fall Fiber Social and Pop Up!

The Wild Oleander pattern was my first way of learning about Andrea and Wickedly Handmade - so it’s very fitting that Ray wears this iconic pattern when we get the absolute pleasure of vending with her and Twisted Hatter in Monroe Michigan on October 24th. I’m bringing the yarn truck up to the greater Detroit area and Ray will be there for all of the fall fiber fun. We are also bringing Blacklight reactive yarns from Laughing Cat Fibers!

Selfishly, I’m going with the hopes that I can finally get my grubby little hands on one of her gorgeous handcrafted crochet hooks 😍😍😍😍

We start packing the truck tomorrow - and are headed to the greater Louisville area for the Southern Indiana Fiber & Arts Festival in Corydon, Indiana! This show has a special place in my heart and I’ll explain more this weekend when I get there. 🤫
Ray, shop bun extraordinare and German Angora rescue is also hopping on board and making the trip for the weekend. We will be outside with fellow yarn truck Indigo Guinea - just refer to the map and we can’t wait to see you!

Folks, we have ONE SPOT LEFT for someone in our Nov 14th dyeing workshop.

This is being held at the shop, at a discounted rate in exchange for your feedback about the class (what was helpful, not helpful, did we leave anything out?) The class will start at 1pm and you will be dyeing 2 worsted weight yarn skeins and have your own dyeing station. Other “blanks” will be available for purchase.

We will be watching Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin as well as decorating your own pumpkin and cookie decorating station! It’s nostalgia and fun - and I hear the temperatures are supposed to drop this weekend, getting you into the perfect Halloween mood 🍂 🎃

While we won’t ever turn anyone away, it REALLY HELPS to know how many are coming so we can have enough pumpkins. In the times of tight budgets, even if it’s a “Hey I’m planning on coming, but I can’t pay til Friday!” That works! It just helps with my buying.

🧶🐰Sharing a Colorwork DIY Hack: 🧶 🐰
Use a heavy cardboard 2-drink carrier, as shown (from Sonic) for colorwork storage!

🎨 One color on each side (can accommodate balls, cakes and bullet skeins
✍️ Hang a sharpie on the side for easy note taking and to keep track of rows
🧺 On the carrier, write the pattern name, where it was from (Ravelry, book, magazine?) and what needles/hooks were used as well as any pertinent information
📝 Paper copy of your pattern and color chart tucked inside

This makes it easy to carry around and helps you be organized if you’re doing multiple projects (who isn’t?). It’s also helpful if you are prepping kits for a class!
