Big project I did last summer. White oak, glue assisted nail-down with custom stain. Believe it or not the entry had stone and 2” of concrete we had to remove and the re frame the subfloor to accomplish this.

Didn’t get many pics of this job but I like how the tile came out (I only do tile when I’m doing adjacent flooring) with the feature strip that mirrors the feature strip in the entry. This is all red oak stairs and floor. Also did LVP in the basement

Finished up a really fun project today. This floor is made from re-sawn glue-lam beams. These were old beams with all full length pieces which you will not find these days. Now they are all made of finger jointed pieces. Floor is glued and screwed down with about 700 screws all plugged with color and grain matched 1/2” plugs. Then I went through and patched about 80 holes from bolts from when the beams were in use many years ago. Chose to do 1.25” square inlays for this. Then cast all the knots with clear epoxy. Filled remaining voids with wood dough made from the dust of the wood. Sanded and finished with Rubio Monocoat. This was a fun and interesting floor that allowed me some challenges and room for creativity. A truly amazing house with equally amazing owners.

Haven’t updated any pics of projects in a while, life has been crazy. Here’s some shots of a red oak refinish that got a much needed medallion to complete the entryway. Stained classic grey and finished with conversion varnish

First job since the before times... a leaky toilet flooded this floor I did in 2014 so we replaced the water damaged area and sanded and stained to match. The hard part was re-creating the custom stain color.

Had to grind some serious waves out of this slab as well as grind off all the paint and putty to prepare it to accept the glue. We then glued down some beautiful oak flooring and some matching vinyl for the laundry room. I’d say it looks a bit better now!

The builder of this home probably thought he was clever by gluing down super cheap cork panels that were not designed for flooring then coating them with floor finish. Now it’s all starting to fail and the new owners didn’t really like the cork anyway so we covered it with these new white oak floors and oak-look vinyl in the bathrooms. It really transformed the home! It feels so much bigger and brighter now.
