Had a great time at the 2025 Pelikan Hub, which was held in Beaverton on Friday with . I helped with the setup. The swag bag that we all received had the Edelatein Apricot Achat ink and a few other fun items. I've tested the ink and it's a fun color. Also picked up a few different inks from Cascade Cider, Oblation Olive, and Spurce. Very nice colors. Also got to test it with her various inks that were there for that purpose.

Been very fascinated with pencils lately. They have so many versions and types. Even the sharpener is cool.

Five years ago, I turned my first pen (Slimline) which was during COVID-19. I had been surfing Youtube Pen Turning videos and thinking about getting into the hobby.

You may not know about my latest pen project; I am working to create a set of pens for the Simple Minds band's concert day in May at Cascades Amphitheatre with band members Cherisse Osei; Ged Grimes and Sarah Brown I hope to present these to them or get them to someone who can help.

Using a Makenzie Liberty kit, set up two Stabilized Buckeye Burl pens, one with a walnut segment. Haven’t been working on pen turning for over a year. Will see how this “turns” out.

Another day teaching (a while ago) at the guild.

Spent several hours today helping a friend milling a Sequoia tree (not redwood) into slabs. I’d never done this before so it was good to do. As explained to me it’s just a huge Bandsaw on the side and it moves. Even got to troubleshoot and change the blade as well.

Finally got a pen done after 10 months of not making one. This is a Celtic Inlay filled with Epoxy on a Sierra Vista Chrome pen. First one I really did like this.

First time in the shop actually working on a pen in about 10 months. Tried a few months ago but that blank died. Picked up this kit during the American Association of Woodturners convention this past Memorial Day weekend. Will see how this works out.

Had a great time at PNW Pen Showtoday. Lots of great pens. Learned a lot. Even got a nib with the PDX Carpet engraved on it.
