RESTORE art collection now on my new website! Sitting at my childhood dining table about an hour south of Amsterdam is where my love for creating art began. With a stack of white paper and a simple pencil, I tried to capture the interesting faces in her mom’s magazines or made line drawings of animals and plants. Even though I always loved creating and exploring different media, I never had a chan

ce to go to art school. Since I believe it’s never too late to pursue our dreams, I made the bold move to enroll in the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program. Working with professional grade oil paint and mixed media on canvas in a contemporary style, I use layering techniques to create depth and spontaneous brushstrokes to convey movement. My art is filled with compassion and hope, inspiring viewers to contemplate how they feel, how they can lift up others and make the world a better place for all. Being part of an international family, I'm dedicated to honoring diversity in my work. While I was born and raised in the Netherlands, I have lived in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in the United States for many years. A certified Oregon Naturalist, I have a big heart for wildlife and use my art to advocate for nature conservation, simultaneously highlighting that we need nature for our own physical and mental wellness. While our world can be so challenging and complicated, my art celebrates the simple joys.

About five years ago, I nervously asked a new little gallery shop in downtown Portland if they’d consider carrying my hummingbird art prints. To my excitement, they said yes!

Since then, Amity Artisan Goods has grown into a beautiful community supporting 55 local artists, and I’m so grateful to still be part of it.

I’m excited to share that will be hosting a special “Meet the Artist” event featuring my art on Friday, May 29th from 5–8pm in downtown Portland.

I’ll have new original paintings and nature-inspired gifts to share and would really love to say hello in person if you’re local.

Be sure to save the date! See you soon!

Just the other day, I saw a coyote in my neighborhood. Seeing this wildlife in my neighborhood - aware, present, moving through the same space we humans live - inspired my painting Coyote Connection.

Coyotes are incredibly adaptable, living alongside us with a kind of intelligence and resourcefulness that often goes unnoticed. Experiencing that up close has been so cool. I know coyotes get a bad rep and are often misunderstood, but they always leave me in awe.

I’m sharing a few photos of the coyote I saw alongside this painting—what started as a real-life encounter, inspired a more reflective piece.

I’d love to know - how do you feel about coyotes? What do you appreciate about them?

There are times when the world feels just overwhelming…
This piece (showing just a detail of it with you today) was my way of creating a calmer space—
one where connection, care and peace still feel possible. Where we don’t constantly need to be moving but recognize that taking a break is important too.
This piece along with several others will be available next week. Stay tuned and have a wonderful weekend!
