RESTORE art collection now on my new website! Sitting at my childhood dining table about an hour south of Amsterdam is where my love for creating art began. With a stack of white paper and a simple pencil, I tried to capture the interesting faces in her mom’s magazines or made line drawings of animals and plants. Even though I always loved creating and exploring different media, I never had a chan

ce to go to art school. Since I believe it’s never too late to pursue our dreams, I made the bold move to enroll in the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program. Working with professional grade oil paint and mixed media on canvas in a contemporary style, I use layering techniques to create depth and spontaneous brushstrokes to convey movement. My art is filled with compassion and hope, inspiring viewers to contemplate how they feel, how they can lift up others and make the world a better place for all. Being part of an international family, I'm dedicated to honoring diversity in my work. While I was born and raised in the Netherlands, I have lived in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in the United States for many years. A certified Oregon Naturalist, I have a big heart for wildlife and use my art to advocate for nature conservation, simultaneously highlighting that we need nature for our own physical and mental wellness. While our world can be so challenging and complicated, my art celebrates the simple joys.

A little joy from earlier this summer. Be sure to turn up your volume!

I haven’t been quite as active here lately, and honestly, it’s been for some good reasons. I’ve been enjoying quality time with family, spending creative time in the studio working on new paintings for a collection I’ll be sharing this fall, and taking some time to plan for the months ahead.

In the midst of all that, I came across this American Robin singing its heart out. I took this video earlier this summer and somehow never got around to sharing it.

So today, I’m finally giving this little song a place here.

I hope it brings a moment of joy to your day and maybe a gentle reminder to pause and listen to the beautiful things happening around us.

Only a few more weeks! You can see the Providence Portland Medical Center exhibit both in person and online on my website. I like to support nature conservation causes so I’m donating 10% of sales to the Bird Alliance of Oregon new wildlife care center. So thankful to share my art with the community in this space!

I’m so excited “A Colorful World” has found a new home through Amity in downtown Portland! It was such a joy to meet this collector in person and discover we share similar values and interests, specifically a deep appreciation for nature. It’s the best feeling when someone connects with my art and I’m so happy she chose to bring this sweet owl home.

Also, a heartfelt thank you to Amity Artisan Goods for supporting local artists and creating a space where these connections can happen. I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing group.

A little behind the scenes from a painting in progress. One element you’ll often find in my work is a circle. I don’t usually point it out, but it’s there for a reason.

To me, a circle symbolizes unity - our connection to nature, to one another, and the gentle reminder that we all belong.

As this new wildlife painting begins to take shape, this simple mark becomes the foundation for the story that’s still unfolding.

“New Beginnings” has found its new home.

I’m always humbled by the journey a painting takes—from the spark of an idea in my studio to becoming part of someone’s everyday life. This piece recently made its way across the country, and it reminded me that art has a way of finding the people it’s meant to find.

My hope is always that each painting brings a little more peace, wonder, and connection into someone’s life. Knowing this painting will continue its journey in a new home means so much.

Thank you for supporting independent artists and for making space in your homes for art that reminds us each one of us matters—and nature matters.

I’m excited to share that a large collection of my original paintings is now on exhibit at Providence Portland Medical Center in Northeast Portland!

This exhibit is especially meaningful to me because these paintings now have the opportunity to meet people where they are. Whether someone is receiving care, visiting a loved one, supporting a patient, or simply passing through, I hope each painting offers an uplifting moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the peace, hope, and perspective that nature can bring.

If you’re not able to visit in person, you can still explore the entire exhibit online. As part of this exhibit, 10% of every original painting sold will be donated to help build the new Bird Alliance of Oregon Wildlife Care Center, supporting lifesaving care for thousands of orphaned, ill, and injured wildlife and birds each year.

Thank you to Providence health system for giving me this opportunity as one of only four artists selected this year and thank you to Bird Alliance of Oregon for the important work they do to care for wildlife!

I feel a great amount of empathy and respect for wildlife.

I try not to startle when I spot wildlife and observe rather than interact. I’ve had a few encounters with wildlife and birds when I felt the curiosity from the animal towards me without any fear or threat.

These moments stay with me and this mutual connection is what I love to paint.

A crow. A lantern. A view that never looks the same twice.

This small detail is part of a new painting inspired by one of my favorite Portland overlooks—a place where the sky feels bigger, the city feels smaller, and it’s easier to take a deep breath. Where you can hear the birds sing in the trees and feel closer to nature even though you’re in the city.

I love places that help us feel both small (in a good way!) and connected at the same time. The changing sky, distant mountains, and wonderful presence of wildlife offer a gentle reminder that we’re part of something larger than ourselves. It helps the worries fade away and makes us notice the beauty around us.

I’m not ready to reveal the full painting just yet, but I couldn’t resist sharing this glimpse.
