Hello friends! This is once again, checking in on your stitching progress…

We have a few weeks left of the Spring SAL and I’ve been doing a bit of reflecting on my stitching, looking through photos, and planning out the next 10,000 projects, as one does. I’ve also been reminded, once again, of the truest truth in crafting: when you work on a project, you make progress on that project. For a crafter like me, who never has one thing going on, this is a good lesson to remember every once in a while.

Are you an every day crafter? Do you work on one project at a time, or are you all over the place? And maybe most importantly, how is your Junebug & Darlin’ Spring SAL project coming along?

As you can see, What the Actual F**k has made great strides, and is very photogenic!

How do you keep track of where you are in your cross stitch? This is Shannon, and I like to use a highlighter, but as you can see from some of my recent cross stitch projects, I'm a little inconsistent with my use of said highlighter. 😆

I'm new to obsessive cross stitching, and I really do find it to be super helpful to be able to highlight sections after I finish them. But then sometimes I will get on a roll, and not mark what I've done. For me, the hardest part about counted cross stitch is the actual counting, so if I can do anything to help myself not have to count much, I am in. 😬

How about y'all? Do you highlight? Do you fold your paper when you're finished with a part? Do you just kind of go for it and not mark anything?

I hope everybody's having fun with their stitch along! I am almost done with What the Actual F**k, and was making great progress on Resist Fascism until I realized that I had messed up one whole part (being two stitches off in cross stitch is a huge deal, it turns out) . I ripped it all out, I'm back to square one, and I'm ready to start stitching again. Whew!

It’s ! It’s Day ONE of the Stitch-a-Long, friends! Are you starting your cross stitch today? How/where do you begin?

I like to start in the middle; I do the whole fold the fabric in half both ways and try to find the exact center of the work, then start there. I also like to start with the words, and then fill in any florals or other patterns afterward. Finishing the words feels like a huge accomplishment to me, every single time.

Do y’all have any questions about cross stitch techniques/best practices? Hit me here, and I can share tips later this week!

(Bonus points if you caught my mis-stitching way at the beginning that I had to tweak. Mis-stitches happen, and thankfully, if you catch them quickly enough, they are easy enough to fix!)

Hello friends!

It’s pre-SAL (stitch-a-long) week 2, this is Shannon, and we’re chatting about where we stitch today! I have my spot on the couch, right in front of a window for good light on our bright days, and with a bright craft lamp next to me for our not-so-bright days (thanks, Auntie Jill for the suggestion!). I have a coffee table in front of me, a basket of quilts next to me for maximum snuggle-osity, snacks and drinks galore (water, bubbly water, and tea are my trifecta of happiness), and of course, my little canine bestie to make sure I take lots of movement (re: ball throwing) breaks.

Where do you stitch? Do you have go-to drinks or snacks? And what are you stitching for the SAL? I am doing What the Actual F**k because of course, but I’m also doing my own take on Resist Fascism, which I’ll share in stories this week. So excited to stitch the Spring away!
