✨ New art! Beloved by birders, admired for its discreet brown colors that mask so well within the forest’s foliage, this plump borb — the American Woodcock — also known as a timberdoodle or night partridge symbolizes persistence, rhythm and intuition. Its quirky bobbing walk resembles a rhythmic dance; you may think of it as the dance of life, a back-and-forth steady pace. 😄
My purpose is to bring joy into your home. You can almost hear the “Peent!” call as you rest your eyes upon this colorful painting.
If you never heard this bird’s goofy call, look it up. It will cheer you up 😊.

What an amazing exhibition opening at the York Public Library yesterday! I was going to take lots and lots of photos and videos, but the excitement of speaking with visitors, friends and fellow artists took over. Here’s one picture of me in front of “All My Ducks in a Row” (which, noticeably, are not in a row 😄). My friend graciously offered to take this picture— thank you Gabriela! And thank you and Cristinna for the flowers!

Many thanks to , , and all the committee and staff members organizing the event! Thank you to all my friends and family attending the opening!

Thank you for coming out to celebrate with us at the opening of our Eleven Views from Here exhibit in collaboration with York Public Library.

Eleven artists, one community, countless ways of seeing: Eleven Views from Here showcases selected works from the Kittery Art Association—a gathering of voices as varied and vibrant as Maine itself. These eleven artists reflect the depth and breadth of talent within an organization of more than 250 creators.

Congratulations to our artists (pictured left to right): Julia Gittes Belshaw, Kenny Gilbride, Cassandra Hahn, Maggie Sanftleben, Marilyn Eimon, Carol Kane Leonhard, Andreea Dumez, Noel Soucy, Rita Pomerleau, and John Bono.

Thank you to York Public Library, the Art Committee, and to all of the KAA volunteers who have made this show possible.

Eleven Views from Here is on view through June at York Public Library, 15 Long Sands Road, York, ME. To learn more, visit: yorkpubliclibrary.org/art

Art is precious, like glittering stones in a river. ✨💎 I have this little pond in my backyard that attracts lots and lots of birds and whenever I think I exhausted all my inspiration from it, I find another story to tell.

🧚This one has a touch of feminine vibe in it, because my backyard birds are my little fairies. They symbolize feminine energy, transformation and spiritual connection to nature. The idea of bringing a touch of magic and semiprecious stones onto canvas began in one of these quiet moments when my muse connected ideas and emotions together. Bits and pieces of my own life are reflected in the flowing water. Life is a constant flow, and there is no one still moment, just a stream of experiences, some more turbulent, others more aligned with our intentions.
💎✨ Do you have a precius/semiprecious stone that you feel more connected to? Does it perhaps remind you of a certain moment in your life?

I paint symbolic bird paintings for people who seek freedom in nature. 🕊️

Since it’s been so cold over the past month ❄️, I’ve spent so many mornings watching birds gather outside my window: juncos hopping across the snow, bluebirds landing near the pond, chickadees darting in and out for a quick drink. They usually drink from my pond, but now it’s completely covered in snow, so I added a heated bird bath. Even on the coldest days, they find their way to the birdbath and return to it again and again.

There’s something about that steady rhythm that stays with me.

In this new piece, I cut into the canvas and built another layer underneath — swirling water, lit from within — because what we see on the surface never tells the whole story. Just like in nature, there’s depth, movement, energy beneath it all. Painting it required the same quiet focus I practice when I stand at the window and simply observe.

If you’re someone who finds meaning in these small, quiet encounters with nature, follow along. This is the world I keep returning to. 🐦

Blue is a color I return to, again and again. 💙 It’s soothing, yes—but it’s also contemplative, the kind of color that sparks a curiosity within me, to open a dialogue with myself, to investigate my personal truths and goals.

If you’re someone who loves blue, you probably know it’s not passive. It carries depth, patience, and a kind of subtle nobility. It asks you to slow down and observe. “There’s more here, take your time.”

This bluebird is simply my way of responding to that feeling on the canvas today.
