Saranae Kurtz opened Achin' Back Garden Center for business in October 2004. Achin' Back is a family-owned and operated business that takes great pride in family values, providing top-notch customer service and providing the local community with high-quality products. The Kurtz family has been involved in the green industry for over 40 years, with husband, Randy, running Chesco Landscaping since 1

972. Saranae studied horticulture at Temple Ambler, before embarking on the journey to open this beautiful retail store. Over the past twenty years, the local community has changed drastically and we have grown and adapted as a new, local business. Big box stores and outlet malls have popped up all over the grid, making it even harder for the "Mom & Pop" stores to survive. We have specialized our business to feature organic products, locally grown plant material, unique items and gifts, beautiful floral arrangements and excellent customer service and gardening advice. Together with their team of knowledgeable employees, Kelli, Randy and Saranae make sure that every customer is treated like family and are satisfied with all of their purchases. 😍Spigelia are in perfect bloom right now and the hummingbirds are thrilled as this is one of their favorites.

Spigelia are also known as Indian Pinks. It is a native plant that thrives in full to part sun. The tubular red and yellow flowers bloom throughout the late spring and early summer. They are an excellent source of nectar for hummingbirds and attracts all the pollinators!

Are your pots still full of pansies? Have you just ran out of time and not had a chance to get them done?

Join us for class this Sunday at 3pm. Bring your own pots or purchase one here! We will help you create a beautiful summer planter that will look great all season long when you follow our instruction. Check your container gardening off your list this weekend!

You can make something to keep the bugs 🦟 away or something in a Red, White and Blue theme for America’s 250th anniversary. Or you can use perennials that will come back next year. You can work herbs or veggies into a container to help save on food expenses. Or create something to attract pollinators or hummingbirds specifically. Whatever your goals, we will help you to create it. Our inventory of plants is still superb so don’t wait to get it done!
